I live in an apartment complex but I will do what I can with hanging plants on the patio but when me and my late Master had our place together we had tomatoe plants, green peppers, scallions- i would love to have a garden. I grew up helping my grandmother w/ the garden...

That is what I like the most about spring/ summer..all the flowers coming up in bloom- the fields stocked full of strawberries, blueberries, corn, etc...Jersey is the Garden State after all I always take the boys in the summer to pick their own fruits and veggies, they love it..

I have a three acre yard................sooo,yes I garden, raspberry patch, fruit orchard, roses, whatever I can get to grow here. Always a new tree or two every year. The weather seems bent on making it difficult, tornado took out a apple tree last spring, bumper crop crushed a peach tree, ice storm finished the peach tree I thought I was saving from the bumper crop....... last summer I put in a bunch of smaller ornamental trees and shrubs and two new perinnial beds.

This year I am obviously going to do a couple more peach trees, some more ornamental trees I ordered the other day, more perinnials, and some more raised beds for edibles. Also have a 1/2 acre area I am going to plow up for large space edibles like sweet corn, melons etc and going to do a bunch of flowers like sunflowers and prairie wild flowers for the birds.

Someday I will do another water feature. I certainly have room for a small pond, just not the $$ at the present time. I had one at my Cedar Rapids house, just an itty bitty little koi pond and the rock alone was over 1000.00. Then the local water fowl and racoons kept eating my fish. Not to mention the mosquitos. They are more complicated than they seem. Especially with an inside out feature in a climate like Chicago. How will you compensate for the ac in the summer and the heat in the winter? I am curious.

Tigress, we can chat via phone if you wish.

Currently- I have a cluster of 3 table top fountains, combined they make ample sounds.

I seen indoor ones for 12k. ouch. I have 5 total of the table top- DONT buy battery operate- they are junk. the unit MUST plug in. I got mine cheap off of ebay.  Since they are components- I can clean one at a time.

Also- in my new place- ild like to put in firplaces galore. I see I have natural gas hook ups. I havent figured out how to do that cheaply.
cielings are 9 ft tall, NO INSULATION!!!!! i want in insulate the inside walls as well- for sound, my brother says not to. but it will be MY HOUSE.  see=- i plan to offer computer tutering and repair. so part of house will be sorta public, then semi private, then very private. i cant have custmors hearing gossip or wild sex, not in small town.

I absolutely LOVE gardening.  I have planted a couple of trees (orange and satsuma) since living here.  I tilled up a nice sized veggie garden, but due to crazy work schedules, I ended up leveling it out and letting the grass grow back after a couple of years.  I just love being able to grow and pick my own veggies.

I also LOVE flowers, so I do a lot of flower beds and flowers in pots.  When I was renting, I had all of my flowers in pots.  And I love to plant herbs.  Nothing like walking out and cutting a sprig of rosemary for your roasted chicken and potatoes.

I think I'm just an earth mother at heart.

I've got a fairly large garden that I enjoy working in. It's a zen thing. After a day of sitting at the computer, it's very relaxing to care for the garden. The fresh produce and herbs are wonderful as well.

I've also got several fruit trees, apple, peach, plum, and pear. I'm debating getting a dwarf blueberry for the screened porch.

Most of my life I have had a garden.  Due to stress, etc the last couple of year's I have not had any free time.
This year however after living in the midwest for a winter.  There is nothing stopping me.
I just ordered my greenhouse.  It will be 16X20 and expandable if need be.  I've ordered my dward citrus trees that will live within it.  Equipped with all the necessities to keep my veggies warm during the winter month's.
There will be no more eating crappy tasting tomatoes anymore.  Everything will be fresh.
Now I just need to find a contractor to help me build it when it arrives...as Doug has a broken back from surgery at the moment.

well, right now, i'm in  an apartment, but I have 6 flowerpots with flowers coming up.....i miss having a yard to take care of.....love to dig in the dirt.....there's just something really relaxing about it.  One day, when I have my house, I'll grow all sorts of things....I grew up in NY, and am used to getting fresh, right off the tree, vine, stalk produce...nothing else compares to it!  I miss it terribly!

I plant flowers and I would love to have enough space to grow veggies.

Last time I planted flowers I planted them for my Daddy on his patio. Good times

I love to plant flowers.  Nothing like creating life out of dirt.  It's metaphorical for me.  My ex wouldn't let me plant anything.  It took WW3 in our house for me to plant flowers up our walkway.  And they were beautiful :)

I'm in an apartment now, but spring is coming and I'm geared up to fill my patio with colorful life.
