pahunkboy -> Greedy landlords- PA- help (2/17/2007 2:44:18 PM)

The new landlord is looking to tripple my rent.

Im in PA. I cant afford that. So instead of putting good money after bad- I have no choice but to be evicted.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?  Help. I am permananetly and totally disabled.

Pennsylvania.

Do you have a contract with the landlord? Do you have a citzens advice bureau where you can go for advice?

pahunkboy -> RE: Greedy landlords- PA- help (2/17/2007 3:26:26 PM)

legal aid- yes!  ok- i located the number.

the property is changing hands. current lease- has all utilities included. the sales agreement  says that tenant is to finish out lease. I met him today and he is balking at the utilities. Next- since the brand new town houses get $550 a month- then this place should get the same he claims.   [this shack]   well- section 8, HUD is involved too. under HUD formula rent would be @ $300.00 for a 1 bedroom for this zip code.   $300 is too low he said.  Next- he plans to chop my unit in half- -another anacceptable option.  even for 300$ a month I could have a mortgage.

I resent that the major screw is coming.

Get a 5th wheel. I just bought one and like it more and more. Contrary to Guage's thread I think the 5th Wheel BDSM society has a chance.

I think the new landlord is dreaming about what he'd like to get in rent, but I guess it his right to try and get that or let the place sit empty while he tries.

So move -- look in the newspaper and find another apartment. Pay somebody to move your stuff. It's a nuisance but you should be able to find something comparable . . . and it won't be triple what you're paying now.

You may find that your current rent is a real bargain too, so once you have an idea about the market price you can make the new landlord an offer to pay more. The worst that can happen is he says no and you move, but maybe he'll take it and it saves you the trouble of moving.

I think it would have to be classified as a surreality show.

What's wrong with Michael that he needs a roomie? Or are you just being funny?

sensualmagirl -> RE: Greedy landlords- PA- help (2/17/2007 5:27:49 PM)

OT:

I seem to be asking a lot of questions lately... lol... what is "squick" -- I kind of get what it means, but, I'm still slightly confused

You are about to get mail.

NorthernGent -> RE: Greedy landlords- PA- help (2/17/2007 5:34:19 PM)

Ok, I've considered this long and hard. Kill him, shove his body parts down the drain pipe and take over the house. No one will know, or care.

sensualmagirl -> RE: Greedy landlords- PA- help (2/17/2007 5:37:03 PM)

ha ha ha NG... funny!

On the topic, I think you need to check your local laws... I beleive that Boston has a limit on how much a landlord can raise your rent in one year... it may still be too high for your needs, but, I don't know if tripling it is legal.

Good luck!

P.S. I also think it's a buyers market out there, so maybe a renters market? I don't know, Boston rents are absolutely insane compared to the salaries!

Do you have any idea how hard it is to dissect a human body? Not to mention the number of blades that he'll go through (big tip off for whomever comes looking, when so-and-so mentions how many trips pahunkboy made to the hardware store... or the clerk will just remember the huge amount of blades bought...).
Then there's the blood. Either you leave the body long enough for it to coagulate (gets smelly in that time frame as well), or you drain it... again, a problem if CSI comes looking.
Finally, if the drain pipes are full of body, how are they going to drain? What would be the point of showering the blood and body-bits off if the drain is gonna be plugged? Drain-O (and other acid decloggers) won't work (I've actually tried, and no, I don't feel like discussing the incident, so don't ask).

If you ask me, your best bet is to get a couple of "OMG-those-are-HUGE" dogs, and treat them to a land-lord dinner [;)]. Dogs that big tend to chew up bones really really well.

Good luck [:)]

Mikal, you are using the wrong tools. Contact me on the otherside and I will explain.

Ok, I can tell you in Michigan if you have the lease he has to abide by the lease even if from previous owner.  When he bought it he bought the old agreed lease till it expires.  He can not do anything to make life difficult while you reside under the old lease such as having utilities turned off and such.  After the lease expires he would then have to go through the motions of having you evicted.  Michigan about 3 months to get through all the steps.  Least up where I live.  So that gives you time to look, and come up with a new game plan. But after the lease expires and he wants to up the rent there is nothing you can do about it.  Now remember I am only talking about Michigan, I don't know the rules and laws of your state.  We also have programs here that will help supliment rents for those of low income to cover rents.  Check with the local HUD office and they should be able to point you in a direction.
