I personally tend to prefer neat and clean men... not overly dressed up, more the casual European look about them gets me going ... but I deifinitely wouldn't use a word like "grubby" to describe what would catch my eye, for sure. I guess, for me, I do not particularly appreciate people looking too grubby in stores, restaurants, etc., At the very least they should be clean. IMO, it just shows that they don't care about themselves. With that said though, I guess it would depend on the time/place/what degree of grubbiness? Say, I saw on a Sunday afternoon somebody in a ripped and stained t-shirt, sweatpants that look like they should never leave your house, unshowered, unshaved and say, in a mall? I would probably wouldn't look, but rather look away like "what was he thinking?" And start looking around for the people from "What Not To Wear" to jump out from a corner or someplace. Or assume they were sick and were out for the afternoon... definitely, not think they were hot. However during the work week, in a supermarket/restaurant, etc., a handsome guy who looks like he just put in a hard days work as a firefighter or in construction with some dirt and sweat and smelling all of pheremones... well, that's another story. I probably would still not get all glazed over or anything, well... mmm.... depends on how good look ing they are.... LOL. But, then, I would at least understand the grubbiness... they came from work and I would have respect for them. So, in conclusion (I know, I'm long-winded), it depends on the grubbiness and the circumstances. But, for me, if they were someone that "caught my fancy" I'd be thinking "I would like to give that man a bath!".
