Do you take your Lifestyle seriously?? I was recently at a play party with a long=time friend, great MASTER of over 30 years, and two of his friends that have almost equal experience...They ended up tag-teaming me with whips, floggers, etc...one would be standing beside the cross taking with me, checking to be sure I was ok while one of the others were whipping, flogging, whatever...and as they talked to me, they were making jokes...I was laughing having a fantastic time...before long everyone at the social was in there watching us, and laughing with all of us...and this group had such a reputation for "formality, protocol...etc"
Do you laugh and enjoy yourselves while scening, or is it "all serious business"???

Depends on who and where the scene is.  I have had pets who I could joke with mid-scene and not lose the space. With Angel, its al business until the scene is over.

It depends on the person, but Id never look at someone strangely if they didnt necessarily keep a poker face while being flogged.

For me, I like to be completely comfortable in my environment, so no it's not always so serious.   If I had to be completely serious all of the time with my partner, it simply wouldn't work.

We have a lot of fun when we play and laughter is a big part of it.  I become very playful during play and once or twice I have had him laughing so hard he was bent over trying to catch his breath.  Nothing more eerie than a sadist who can't stop laughing except maybe watching a girl get the hell beat out of her and the harder he hits the harder she laughs.  That is both of us at times.

I am usually serious, I despise that group of people that always has a scene with about 3-5 people spanking ticklying TALKING and wandering in and out of their scene.

That said, I could see myself being playful with the right person in the right scene, say a tickling scene or something.

My boy and I have times when something hits one of our funny bones during a scene and we end up laughing. There was a time I thought every play session should be conducted in a completely serious manner but have found we both enjoy changing the mood now and then and even when we get silly it doesn't get in the way of our head space.

I try to be serious to make the scene more intense, but an LOL happens now and then. When a sub laughs being hit hard, I don’t take that as a serious laugh. I take it more as a measure of her endorphin high level.

some of play sessions that have happened, are quiet tearful ones.... some are very primal... growls, swearing,  punches and kicks directed at Him.... and still others with laughter and playful banter back and forth.

the best scenes in my opinion are the ones that included all of these elements and afterward all i can  say about the play is   WOW    *ss*

It depends on who what were when and how. Some times it's just what the doctor ordered. I think that some times I forget that " This is for fun" and let myself  go with it so long as who ever I'm scening with consents to being distracted by laughter etc.

For lack of a better word at the moment, yes, I do take this "lifestyle," seriously. I avoid "scenes," shiny outfits and clubs of "high protocol," however. There are always times and places for humor, but I feel it's a mistake to introduce too much frivolity in serving or being served.

To answer the question in the spirit of the actual OP, my personality is a mix of serious and humor.  Humor that some people like and others don't.  There was an occasion when my partner was in great pain because of what I was doing and simultaneously laughing extremely hard because of what I was saying.  Naturally, I had her quite confused, which of course is what I wanted.  I, on the other hand, was rather nonplussed, so as to better concentrate on what I was trying to create.

To answer the question as it reads, I can say that there are very few things in life that are worth taking seriously.  This Lifestyle is one of only a couple of things that I value their meaning and my place.

I take my lifestyle very serious .. but scenes ... well ... someone once said if it feels good do it ... so if laughter is abound then absolutely let the belly chuckles keep rolling ... if the atmosphere is serious and quiet then I follow that and allow the sceners to do their thing

For myself it is mostly serious.  I do have a sense of humor all the time, but when Im in submission to someone or 'scening' or just in a mindframe of submission, humor doesn't usually surface for me at those times.  I was actually talking with someone recently who found it a "shame" that I dont find humor in submission in times of physical or sexual relations.  I dont find it a shame at all, because for me, laughing would dilute or cheapen the whole energy exchange thats going on.  It's just too emotional for me and something that generally puts me in a pensive state of mind.  Often it causes me to cry, not out of sadness, but out of being moved deeply.  I just think there is a time and a place for humor, and for me, it doesnt fit into submissive moments.

I was in a pretty unserious scene last weekend. My dom tied me in a karada, and then ran a piece of cord through my nipple rings and led me around, letting people we knew play with that rope and my crotch rope, while he beat on me some. It was kinda like being a party favor.

Me and Master giggle and fool around during scenes all the time.. though it depends how much in to sub space I am... usualy if Im bound I get very far into subspace and when Im in sub space I loose compasity to speak.. But if Im not in sub space or far into it  which happens when Master has me moving around my position a lot a lot of jokeing and kiding goes on.

ha ha, maybe it is becasue i'm new and young ..... and have never played with anyone with years and years of experience.... but it is sooo hard not to laugh when something goes wrong....like a floger coming flying out of a hand by accident and flying across the room.....or a cell phone ringing the crazy frog song.....sometimes things happen that are funny...... but on the topic of tickling *squirm* that is one thing i just can't stand....i get violent and very loud when tickled, lol....i DO NOT laugh,  scream and flale my arms and legs....it's not a pretty sight

i think it depends on what type of scene it is. Being whipped or flogged tends to be more of a serious scene for me. Experimental scenes make me laugh. Ya know, trying something out for the first time.  i actually really enjoy scenes like that. They can turn into the goofiest of scenes and both of you just break down laughing.  =)
