Has there ever been a band that has just done it for you? I had never heard of Cowboy Junkies before this woman took me home and played them for me in the early nineties and now whenever I'm feeling whimsical and nostalgic I put on the Junkies. They had such an effect on me I ended up travelling from Halifax to Vancouver in the mid nineties, maybe a bit over the top but I have everything they have ever recorded and they accompanied me across Canada twice and if I want to get a female friend to feel comfortable I always play Cowboy Junkies and it works. OK, there are still not that many people that have heard of The Cowboy Junkies here. What band does it for you? I admit I have a female friend mellowing out now which prompted me to post this because the Junkies just have that magic touch.

Yup I have long been a fan of theirs, particularly their first album.

been a Junkies fan for a long long time. my favourite song is New Dawn Coming.  The band that does it for me right now is Black 47 (celtic rock). Their website is www.black47.com I love the San Patricio Brigade.

The Stone Roses are one of those bands that I can put on any time and still be amazed by the music.  I also attach a lot of memories of my college days to them and other bands around that time (1989).

Be well,
Julie

MC, I generally dislike covers, but the Cowboy Junkies version of "Sweet Jane" is fantastic. They're just a solid band, very atmospheric. I used to listen to them and Mazzy Star quite a bit.
