12 Billion dollars sent to Iraq is missing.  I am almost appalled but very little appalls me anymore.
Could this money have been intercepted by enemies of America and now be used against us?
Have we not heard it all now?

'Staggering Amount' of Cash Missing in Iraq - by Emad Mekay

MzMia,

This is not US money. It is Iraqi money - from oil sales and their assets.

12 billion dollars are not missing. Most of it went to US contractors.

The reason it was distributed so quickly was because they wanted control over the direction of the money prior to the installation of an Iraqi government. Thus, in pigeon English, this is a fair indication that the US government couldn't give a flying one about self-determination - they always intended to run the show.

They dropped and handed out shitloads of the stuff in a very short space of time - what self-determination and democracy?

The "U.N." can't find $22-$24 B that's "missing" in the "Oil for Food" program and our government wants to give them even more money and "work" with the "U.N.?"

Popeye, anything but the US government eh. You must trust them 100% to believe that shit. So, you vote for bush and the republicans?

farglebargle -> RE: Missing 12 billion dollars? Has anyone found it yet? (2/9/2007 2:48:17 PM)

Nope, the contractors got paid as per contract.

This 12 Billion Dollars just fell of the face of the earth into someone's warehouse.

"Paul" Bremer? or someone else? Condi Rice? Someone who has REAL POWER and you'll never know their name?

Anyway, we have the "MOTIVE" for lying to Congress and The People to start the war.

sambamanslilgril-Hope he can spring for a more effective recruitment strategy too.  I still think we're the only two. As if billions of dollars isn't incentive enough.  And we need to recruit or kidnap an accountant.  You know that money has already been through the laundry :-)

i'm glad i know accountants too and they work for the City of Chicago.  they know how to hide ....oops - find money very well.

Disgusting so the American politicians are also corrupt,so us Brits are not alone lol.

Well good, if they know how to hide money they can think like the people that hid  ours.  My goal is too recover at least "eleventy" billion of it.  Like Bush or not, he's given us some fun new words :-)...nucealer,  he he.

Most of it went to contractors. My guess is the remaining was used to:

1) Fund mercenaries to support the invading armies.
2) Buy Iraqi ministries i.e. a friendly government eases the problems faced by an occupying force.

Officially, the money was handed out to the Iraqi people in order to get the economy back on its feet. Enid Blyton couldn't dream up this sort of bollocks.

Oh I have been thinking about the money a lot lately.  Many people are struggling, homeless, cold, poor, etc.
Budget cuts and we have billions to just lose? People are serving life in prison for stealing less than $1,000.

Leave it to me to nit pick, but MzMia (or anyone) could you please explain this statement?

MzMia to the rescue!  Have you not heard of the 3 strikes law? Proposition 66?  In certain states, especially CA,
3 strikes and you are out. Again, people are serving life in prison for less than $1,000 if this is their 3rd offense.
Please read, it is indeed fundamental. [;)]

NG, no, I don't mean what you're inferring.
I don't like the Bush Administration for a number of reasons and certainly wouldn't vote for someone who went to "Yale" and had a silver spoon in their mouths.
When I say "the govt" I mean U.S. Taxpayer Dollars.
That (is) the name of the game after all, foreign countries and orgs hunting for the money of U.S. Citizens.

Did any one mention that the congressmen in jail still get paid a crap load as well.

Popeye, this is my point:

1) This money is Iraqi money from their oil sales and assets. It's not "US taxpayers" money. I know there's a few of you who like to think you're propping up the world. If you understand what a lying, scheming bunch the US government are, what makes you think they wouldn't strip Iraq bare and use their money as they wish?

2) If you don't support bush and his government then why would you believe the smokescreen that is the attempted tainting of the UN. Yes, the UN is by no stretch of the imagination a corrupt-free organisation. However, as much as you hate to admit it, and as much as you refuse to believe it, the corrupt organisation that has blood on its hands, far more than any other, is the US government. Dressing this up as "US taxpayers money" (when its not remotely true) will not change the fact that your government is an embarassment to the human race.
