http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=2853127&page=1  Mayor Gavin Newsom, mayor of San Francisco; who IMO is a hero- is in some deep shtt. 1st he steps out on his wife- now he is seeking treatment for drinking. [alcoholism]

His dynamic charm, and his bold political decree- that allowed gay marriages in San Francisco, set him apart from the pack.

This guy is charming inteligent- and had a future in national political office.

[even if you oppose gay marriage]  When this guy gives a speach it is awe inspiring.

He gave alot of folks like me hope- in a depressing era- of neocon rule.

In a day where there are not alot of heros, it sure hits me as a sad day.  :-(

Yeah he charmed the pants right off his key aide's wife.

Here we go again with another politician seeking rehab. It's just an excuse anymore.

Well I just wonder if he hadn't been drunk and so anxious to get some stray gap, if he woulda signed gay legislation before he read it------

LOL........

Ild surmise a huge % of lawmakers are under the influence at key times.

IMO- few if any read the legislation they sign

PS- I still have the parrot.

Exactly! It is just easier to blame the booze when you get caught, than to blame your stupidity.

As far as mayors go Chicago elected a mayor who served time in jail. Harold Washington. [80s]

Marion Barry of DC was re-electic despite being filmed by the feds doing crack.

Current mayor Daley of Chicago- "tries" to be inclusive. I dont blame him for refusing to break the law. The Illinois constitution defines marriage as between a man and a woman- this goes back to the 1800s that the constitution was codified.

Is his stupidity linked to bopping his campaign manager's wife, or getting caught? ...

Thanks for htis link. He truly was/is a rising star on the national stage.

being good looking doesnt hurt.  My guess is that he will be re-elected as mayor- but on the national stage, he is damaged merchandize.

They never really did solve the Harvey Milk slaying.

Often you find- with minds that think out side of the box- a high libido- and alcohol/drug use.

Now more then ever we need hope in this country- and to harmonize that we can not survive as an island. The world is now interconnected like never before.

I admire the folks who took to the streets in Seatle, Miami, Rio, and other venues where the ruling elite is planning their complete and total takeover of  we the peons.

Many are afraid to speak up, or post or get too involved as they need their jobs.

Dude.....

This is exactly why I say over and over and over..... pick a bicycle messenger, a retired school teacher, or a guy who's been a plumber for thirty years..... Ya'll want these ''showmen'' as your leaders...I don't understand it. They have tons and tons of skeletons in the closet...and a good portion are easily bought and sold. Man...It’s really time to look past all this glitter.

He's a piece of human sewage.

If you want to fuck someone other than your mate (unless you have clear permission)...get a divorce.

It's pretty simple shit.

Don't hurt the one you love.

More particularly...don't hurt those you said you'd protect (in heart, and in fact).

And don't lie.

(It actually can be done...it just requires a little thing called "integrity").

And this is some arbitrary proof of integrity?

I think not.

These people, regardless of polls, are garbage.

Harold Washington was a decent mayor- [altho I voted for Jane Byrne]  He did a fine job.
