lol,,,  I actually used that tactic first on my youngest offspring when he was throwing a tantrum....seems it works on males no matter what age they are.  ROFLMAO

What route would you choose?

I haven't a clue.

My point was simply that *defiant and stubborn* wouldn't be *it*.

Apart from the fact that it would be highly unlikely for me to able to, I haven't any inclination to and there's no need to, either.

why o why does someone  find a new word for  the actions that this one is doing*shugs*

nyrisa -> RE: New Word for Topping From The Bottom (2/8/2007 12:58:40 PM)

If we are going to have a "new" word for topping from the bottom, why not give it it's own word? I vote for "bopping", as in bottom topping (yikes, that sounds like whipped cream for a rim job, doesn't it?).

As words and terms seem to matter so much in this BDSM world, I'm surprized I've not seen this word used.

I'm not sure why you're suprised, as it doesn't really describe TFTB.  TFTB is trying to manipulate the situation to produce the outcome you desire.

Apples and oranges.

So topping from the bottom never includes a bottom's attempts to manipulate situations so as to avoid outcomes she doesn't desire?

Is there a whole different name for this phenomenon? Or is that well within the range of exemplary submissive behavior as you see it? Please advise.

I've never seen the term defined so narrowly before.

I wonder whether I am unusual  in  seeing topping from the bottom as something that can transpire in more han the one way you specify.

Kondolinni -> RE: New Word for Topping From The Bottom (2/9/2007 8:46:58 AM)

Of course TFTB can include the definition you described.

If one avoids the inclination to be obtuse about this, as well as the morass created every time we debate the meaning of terms, "topping from the bottom: can generally be agreed to refer to when a submissive obtains, or at least attempts to obtain, active control of a situation with a Dom, usually by coercive means.

It is perhaps a bit unfortunate that we tend to use terminology in the life that is "cute"...  The words; "top", and "bottom", are confusing to some, as they seem to relate the phrase to a scene, or a play specific situation.

The actual usage of the phrase is not so limited, however. It is often used to refer to behavior employed by submissives in a real time D/s relationship, as well. It can in fact apply to the same kind of behavior in any type of sub to Dom interaction.

You're arguing semantics.  Manupulating the sutuation to avoid 'x' is the outcome they desire in that case.

Who can say.  I'm just saying how I see TFTB.  You're under no obligation to accept it as canon law.

Hi suzanne,

Both of these words are good terms that could be applied in
different D/s situations.  "Recalcitrant" is the more active
type of disobedience and "defiant" or "non-compliant" are
the passive type of disobedience.

In either case, do not reward the bad behavior.
Use a punishment that the sub/slave will loathe and never
want to experience again.  I prefer to use very boring and
time consuming chores, standing in a corner, writing an essay
about why and how they were bad, sending them away and
denying them my attention for a while, and so forth as punishments.

recalcitrant - marked by stubborn resistance to authority; "the University suspended the most recalcitrant demonstrators"
defiant, noncompliant - boldly resisting authority or an opposing force; "brought up to be aggressive and defiant"; "a defiant attitude. I'd not heard it before.
I thought maybe others would like to see it too.
As words and terms seem to matter so much in this BDSM world, I'm surprized I've not seen this word used.
