Let's see.. the first time I saw BDSM in public was at the Fetish Fair Fleamarket a few years ago... I went to a class on caning hosted by boymeat. Apparently (naive little thing I was) I had a fairly shocked look on my face 'cause he actually had to stop the demo for a couple minutes to stop laughing.
The first time I participated in public play was as a bottom at a friend of mine's play party. It was good, but I couldn't really let myself go enough to truly get into it. Too concious of people watching. Afterwards I thought "Well that was fun," but had no real burning desire to do it ALL the time. I have more fun as a top in public.. I can get into the scene MUCH better. *Grin*

It was at House of Differences in San Francisco, CA several years ago. I don't recall how I felt before, but the space was really to small for the number of people and it was very hard to watch anyone else doing scenes although I did get to watch this one scene with a guy who knew his way around a rope. That first public exposure to his rope technique started me off on a journey to explore Shibari for myself and it's been a passion ever since. My first few years of public play were as a Top and bottoming and being the demo dummy came later on although I'll still Top in public on occasion especially if I'm offered up a chance to do a piercing demo. Most often Himself and I confine our 'public play' to private parties which we host with select friends and we don't get out into the general community as often unless it's to do a demo and even those are rarer as we have gotten quite stingy with our private & play times.

I was so scared. I am a BBW who is very body conscience and I didn't want others looking at me. But Sir wanted to play so we waited till the play space was about empty and he talked to me, got me focused on the music he had chosen and after getting me secured into place slipped a blindfold over my eyes. Everything vanished for me and it was just he and I. It was the best experience ever. Only later did I find out that once he started the scene about 15 people came to watch. I can't wait to do it again.

My first time at a public play was at KinkFest in Portland OR...I was still very new to the whole BDSM thing and I was a bit overwhelmed. We did not play that night there, however just the ambiance sent me into subspace. He was sitting on a couch just talking with a friend as I was sitting at his feet. He was stroking my face as we watched someone else playing. I dont remember much really..They were just talking about me going off for about 20 minutes without responding to anything..LOL..

my first time in public was my first time altogether....i was 18 or 19 and went to a place on 42nd Street in NYC called Show World...i think it's still there...they used to have a live S+M show...so i paid my money and went in...there were about 6 of us there...me and 5 strangers that is...at the end of the show they had audience participation...at that time i was a fresh faced kid...so the woman doing the show invited me onstage...i went, and she spanked me with a pretty tame slapper/crop like thing...it didn't really hurt much...but i found it exciting to have this done out in public...i stayed for the next show...and the one after that (they did them pretty much every hour or so)..and each time she picked me to play with...like i said...it was tame compared to where i'd go now...but it's a fun memory.
