I saw this cable news story last night about the Tijauna Mexican police force being armed with sling shots because they were stripped of their guns in a corruption probe. It was 60 police officers that now carry wrist rocket protection. Should I have put this in random stupidity ? Not a question here just sharing a funny news story but a scarry one.

Wrist Rockets? You DO NOT wanna get nailed by one of them.

As far as provisioning "Less than lethal" weapons, It might not be a bad idea.

Hey Fargle I had a wrist rocket and a Falco 2 slingshot that were very accurate and they were very hard hitting.

Wrist rockets are good for shooting fireworks way up in the air too.

Maybe they're just Mexican police using them to chase Mexican citizens across the U.S. border, since. were they using real guns, far fewer would make it. Or maybe theyre usin 'em to stop illegals from returning to Mexico, but don't really want to kill them. Whatever the case, I think it's safe to assume they're not using any weapons to keep citizens in Mexico whatsoever.

Who didnt.

Although my favorite was my wood slingshot put onto a 3 foot 2x4 and loaded with 8 rubber bands (1/4 inch wide) on each side.  Could put a pachinko ball through a car door with that puppy.

Not that I am admitting ever having done such a thing, mind you.

Maybe we should arm our border patrol men with slingshots
and steel ball bearings.
Look what just happened to the border patrol officers that
shot the drug dealers!

Sinergy did you ever make a tennis ball cannon. Those old soda cans in the 70s were perfect. You would cut the tops and bottoms off and use electrical tape to hold them together and use lighter fluid as a igniter. Was not a weapon , just pure fun.

I think that policing anywhere these days, without a side arm, requires steel balls.

I was at a scout camp, and my friend and I were "protecting" the junior scouts from Ron's patrol.

So I locked them in the cabin and went searching for the Enemy.

Ron attempted to pry a window open, and all I heard as I ran back from 40 yards away was a muffled thwop, followed by Ron lying in the dirt on his back.

The round, tennis-ball sized red mark took 2 days to fade from his forehead.

Not sure I know what you are talking about as far as a tennis ball cannon is concerned, depending on how the TOS views it.

Another one is surgical rubber tubing attached in two loops to a large funnel.  Can shoot a water balloon over 100 yards with that.  Not saying that we used to lob them over the dorms at people working on their tans, or at sailboats filled with girl scouts, or anything.

I could go on at all the things I would never admit doing.

We also had the 'potato masher' that involved a hunk of pvc pipe, using hairspray as a propellant.  My personal favorite was filling a condom with a couple gallons of water and (carrying it with a towel between two people), dropping it from the fourth floor fire escape.

I wonder if any of the criminals in TJ will shoot back with bottle rockets?

Stop your car now this is a high speed pursuit. I will have my partner hang out the window while we are driving 125 m.p.h. and blow your tire out with his slingshot.
