hello, i need help with something. can  a free user invite someone to chat without going into the chatrooms. people have invited me, but i seem unable to, and thought perhaps i needed to be a paying member or go through the chatroom system. ks f

thanks HH, but i wondered if the only way was through the chat portal. i have seen on several profile"invite to chat", but not on the few i have wished to speak with. and apparently others have accesssince thay have invited me. thought perhaps it had to do w/ my free status.

you need to get the java part, and I dont remember where it tells you that, and even if you get it, it takes awhile from click to load to talk.  If you email them that you can't, do they respond?  quite often they are scammers....

After being a "free" user on collarme.com for almost 3 years I finally figured out how to use the chat rooms.

First of all you don't need to use the collarme.com "Chatroom" screens in order to get in.

All you need is any IRC client and then set it to connect to collarme.com on TCP port 6667

The collarme.com IRC (Internet Relay Chat) server is just like any other IRC server and listens on port 6667.

I'm using an open source client called "gaim", but many other users are using one called "mIRC".

One needs to use their collarme.com user ID and password to logon to the IRC server.
