Be very, very carefull if something is labelled "black henna", as there is no such thing. If you are lucky, it is indigo, which is a good natural dye. If you are not so lucky, it is a chemical cocktail mixed into henna. Sometimes those are really bad. As for the "no chemical dye before or after henna", it is only chemical dye with metal salts that reacts badly with henna, other dye should be no problem. I have used it in various mixes or on its own for years, and have never had any problems.
