ORIGINAL: BlkTallFullfig think I answered that... Being ultra thin is (IMO) an abnormal popularized ideal that (black) folks, who are working too hard to make ends meet (and haven't the money to buy vogue and cosmo) haven't the time or energy to obsess over that nonsense on most days, lol... Is that stereotypical? Sorry this thread is trouble I can see it... That doesn't mean *we* can't enjoy it. I think we just obsess over other things based on general cultural preferencs. quote:
I disagreed with you that being unpopular and on the net is the reason for large number of fat people in BDSM... My thought is that fat/unpopular people are more likely to join fat acceptance groups rather than people who do some crazy shit groups (what BDSM is in vanilla minds). M Well I think most of the world is open to "kinky sex" to start with, and, when you couple it with the rich, illusion of "we accept everyone and everything"- the scene can be quite alluring for those who have not been able to express themselves. It is more than just being unpopular, like I said in my first response. Not fitting in with "mainstream" culture is both the cause and the effect of a lot of these issues. But I think that bdsm in some ways HAS become a fat acceptance group for a lot of people. And yes, we disagree on the percentage in the scene vs outside the scene, so there's no way to resolve that or any conclusions based on that point.
