Status: offline 		I cannot kneel at all. My knees won't bear the weight.  It's extremely uncomfortable and leaves my knees hurting for hours. I had the
thought of a kneeling bench. I don't have any experince with them however.  Are there any other kneeling challanged who use them.

The problem with kneeling for long periods of time is the undue stresses it puts on the ligaments that hold the knee together.

The Japanese use a small pillow (the name escapes me) to allow them to kneel in seiza for long periods of time, which sits between their calf muscles and their gluteus maximus and takes their weight off the knee joint.

Status: offline 		I've got a couple of Buddhist prayer stools here, I dont use them for any slave type kneeling...but would work for that, takes pressure off the knees etc..I will try and find a link to a picture of something similar...

Status: offline 		That would hurt. I have bad knees from years of gymnastics and loss of cartilage. I have had surgery on one knee. I love to kneel. So I found firm, full pillows to be the best. Soft , cushy ones just flatten out and your knees hit the floor anyhow. I thought of making my own but haven't found the time.

The lawn and garden area of Step 2 has a kneeling bench that is wonderful.   It has padded underside to the bench.  The legs of the bench have hand holds to help you stand up.   And it can be used as a bench seat.  As a safety professional I used them with employees that had knee problems (as well as my and my sisters homes - we both have bad knees both mine have been operated on).  They really helped.

Status: offline 		The Catholic churches have a kneeling 'board'; at the pew, to pray. Of course it hurts, the knees, back, et al; how else are you to know you are a disgusting creature concieved in sin; it's supposed to hurt; drive that concept into your brain. And, don't you forget it.

Status: offline 		I recently purchased one of those oak buddhist prayer benches.  It seems to be better for the knees, and takes the weight off the feet as well so they won't go to sleep as quickly.  I think letting your body adjust a bit at a time is a good idea though.
