hmm risks? gee since you ARE burning flesh, it could blob up it could become infected, it could not heal right, It could damage nerves and tissue. A brand is a second degree burn.

No.  A correctly done brand is a 3rd degree burn, also known as a "full thickness" burn.

I have been branded and surprisingly it didn't hurt at all when it happened and barely hurt the next day although the brand is about the size of a nickel so that might be why it didn't hurt too much.. It was an awesome experience,  sent me into a nice submissive space like a tamed ocelot. It took a few weeks to totally heal but if you keep it clean than you should have nothing to worry about. it was done on my back left hip a spot I picked cause Daddy has a burn there from a hot pipe. I am actually thinking of making a new branding iron for another one, that is how much I loved my first branding
experience.

How much it hurts: like a tatto, it can vary as to where you place it. My brands are on the inside of my forearms. It hurt more than the tat on my upper arm and less than the tat on my spine. It also depends on how long it take to make the complete brand. Mine are a series of 39 dots on the left arm and 49 on the right. Each dot was done twice. It hurt!

How long it takes to heal: this varies a great deal from person to person. It took a good month before all of my many dots were healed. And, I don't keyloid (scar) well, so the fact that I want them to scar is problematic. I've had them done twice in the last year and still, on some days, some of them isn't clear (it depends on if I'm hot or cold). It also depends on if it gets infected.

Thanks you for the information all it is wery helpful. i am also reading all i can find online and will ask a few pepole i know that work at a pricing studio to so i and my Dom can get as mutch information as possible on the subject.

akbarbarian -> RE: How mutch to branding hurt? (12/31/2006 6:31:11 PM)

My understanding is it's the healing that hurts, and a permenant brand can take quite awhile to heal.  A brand that didn't go well can take months to heal.  It's a fairly severe wound essentially, and thus takes a varying period of time to heal.

stef the people in the other branding thread said it was second, so eone first said it was third then they're like no it's 2nd.

nephandi -> RE: How mutch to branding hurt? (1/1/2007 3:38:00 AM)

i have heard of second degree burns brands that is not intended to be permanent, though i dont know if theese are sucsesfull, but unless all the layers of skin is burned through the mark will not be permanent, though at any burn one can get a scar. Also the metal must be hot enought to burn away bacteria and such to limit the risk of infection after all burn wounds are some of the most easy infected wounds of all.

MissyRane -> RE: How mutch to branding hurt? (1/1/2007 3:50:02 AM)

branding? ouchhhhhhhhh ugh I can just imagine the pain like when they're branding horses or sheeps gawd i feel sorry for the poor things

i've never understood why people don't just settle for a tattoo if they need to be marked[8|]

nephandi -> RE: How mutch to branding hurt? (1/1/2007 4:44:04 AM)

For me and Mster i think it is the psychological thing of being marked like an animal.

One more question, i have wery light colord skin, the few scars i have hardly show becouse i am so pale, will a brand even show on my skin once it is healed?

BDSM05478 -> RE: How much does branding hurt? (1/1/2007 9:22:05 AM)

if you wanted too make the brand stand out more I would think you could just rub ash in it like you can do for cuttings. Or get a tattoo. I really wouldn't know how to make it stand out more as I am lucky enough to scar beautifully.

Phoenix said: Here is more info hope it helps http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Branding This site should give you all the info you need to make a well informed decision.
Not to start a argument or hijack the thred. I feel this needs to be said for those who need to be well informed about the very dangerous consequences of improper branding so that no submissive gets damaged because of misinformation.

Third degree burns are hopefully not what happens when a person goes to a pro.
As a former EMT I have delt with third degree burns that are very painful because they damage muscle tissue and kill the nerves. Second degree burns damage the layers of skin and nerve endings, "not the muscle" Oh and I almost forgot I have branded cows and the rancher said be careful not to give the COW a third degree burn.Nuf said

I will get off my soapbox now. I just want to be helpful
