I did a speech on chimera's for my speech class... and i dunno why i never thought to tell you all. Or maybe i did and i'm just being senile. The "oh no, not cloned milk" Made me think of it....
I used to have a few more links on it, but i trashed everything when school was over. So if you are interested you're going to have to do your own googling to search it all out.
(so you know what you're getting into )
A Chimera is an animal human hybrid.
Like they created a mouse with a 1% human brain...
and they could produce mice with human reproductive organs (have the egg and sperm fertilized in a dish - surrogate mother grow the fetus) and wala - you have a child who can honestly say his/her parents were mice.
Sounds far fetched, which it may only be, because of moral concerns. Yet it is possible.
cloned milk? bah politics? bah
How about creating new species? Now THATS interesting

Pretty cool stuff.... Interesting to see how far some people will go. Id like to read that report.
I once bred these half man, half horse creatures...I thought they'd be ideal farm workers......you know? strong and intelligent....though of course they'd have had to be kept out of sight, 'cause people would come from far and wide just to see 'em......so I tried to mix a shyness gene in there too.
No, I'm not picking on your grotesque/chimera collection. ;-)
EDIT:
Ugly demonic or simply weird building adornment that acts as a drainspout = A Gargoyle Ugly demonic or simply weird building adornment that ISN'T a drainspout = A Grotesque or a Chimera
(- I do make allowances for certain misnomers. The fantastic cartoon from the mid90's GARGOYLES wouldn't have had such a catchy ring to it if they called it CHIMERA. -)

I hate the direction that genetic research is heading. I can't doubt that if a human hasn't already been cloned, it isn't from lack of trying. We're in such a rush to do things to 'prove we can' that we don't stop to consider 'if we should.'
But what do I know? I also believe in global warming.
