It seems to be the season for it, but my rewrite of The Cell's Door is being published. After a long and hard decision, I decided that my bdsm fiction is going to be published under my pen name Nigel Cross. I realized that as long as my mainstream novels were being published under my real name, it was going to be somewhat confusing and probably problematic to have both genres falling under my regular name.
For those interested (and for those not...), the book is about a man who finally achieves exactly what he has been seeking in turning over his life to his Mistress, but discovers that once he has done so, it's not what he was expecting. Under contract, he is trained by those working for his Mistress, until they deem him worthy of actually finally serving her. As someone who dabbles more in the psychological mindset of bdsm, it should be expected that the novel does so as well, pretty much making the road to submission a journey into deeper slavery where fantasy and reality really don't have a lot of boundaries. It's kind of like the thing I say in the forums all the time: What if you got your fantasies but instead of experiencing them, you were forced to live them?
I signed the contract, went through the galleys and now am just waiting for the actual publication.
