I started writing a couple of years ago but have yet had the confidence to let anyone read my stories.  My family makes fun of my writings.  They have yet to read a story though. They are short erotica BDSM stories. I am doing one now titled The Dominate.  Maybe one day I will get the courage to let others read one. All this talking of writing has really made my creative juices flow.  Thanks for listening.

Patina, you have to decide what you want to gain from your work. If you want others to read your work even if you may not make a fortune, I encourage you to publish your own work with such companies as Vanity Press, Publish America and others. There are many companies who will publish your work in limited copies if you guarantee a certain number of sales which can be done easier than you think if you have a niche market like BDSM. This may not be the national acclaim a mainstream publisher will give you, but you have the self satisfaction of seeing your work in print and being shared with others. Go for it.

Well congratulations.
I too have a BDSM novel published.
Mine is more of an Erotic BDSM Romance than most, but it is doing very well.
Still have some copies to autograph if anyone is interested... lol...

You have to provide a link for it.

We all do when we get things published. Otherwise how will people know.

I get folks emailing me asking "are there any books on this subject?" who are certain that the number of books about BDSM (fiction or non-fiction) must be like a dozen. Most mainstream, big box bookstores don't carry our books and they can be difficult to find on Amazon if you just look by subject (their search engine needs work).

I wonder if a Mod might consider a forum for just links to people's work. Or would that fit into the "Professional Services" forum better? I think most see that forum and think pro dom sessions and businesses that sell whips or equipment not books.

Instead of the typical congratulatory remarks, I thought I'd give voice to an opinion on the subject matter of the book. Specificly, that of fantasy fullfilment.

In an intellectual consideration based on your provided synopsis, allow me to suggest the idea, put forth by others than myself, but to which I subscribe, that a fantasy fulfilled is no longer a fantasy, and therefor no longer serves it's intended purpose within the psyche of the person engaged in fantasizing.

To wit; the purpose of a fantasy, by it's very nature, is self-motivation. Having a fantasy, no matter how passive a point of view the person having one maintains, has the function of causing the individual to project his/her desires onto a potential future scenario. A goal is implied. If the fantasy scenario is achieved, the goal is achieved, and the basis for the original fantasy becomes not just irrelevent, but non-existent.

Healthy minded individuals produce new (replacement) fantasies and goals, as required, throughout their lives.

I'd be interested in knowing a bit more about the structure of your novel, with a thought to whether this aspect of fantasy fullfilment is addressed. Also, how does this line of reasoning, if you deem it to be at all relevent, relate to the mind-set of the prinicpal character vis-a-vi the underlying motivations which create the foundation for his fantasy in the first place?

Your synopsis suggests an intriguing premise. I look forward to knowing where I can locate a copy of your book after it has been distributed.

Incidentally; congratulations.

Two things:

1. The last post I made indicated where the book can be found. I think you may have read the first post and responded to that.

2. I'm not sure I agree with the belief that once a fantasy is fulfilled it is no longer a fantasy. One of my oldest fantasies has been living in the home of a dominant woman who keeps me caged in her dungeon. It's not everyone's fantasy, but it was mine. Well, at the time of writing this novel, I actually succeeded in becoming owned by a professional dominant who moved me into her home, which was also the location of her huge, multistoried dungeon. In the lower level, there was a cage, and she kept me imprisoned in that cage almost every night for the years that I lived with her. It was the complete fulfillment of a fantasy I had for the longest time. But the fantasy didn't go away while it was being fed. I didn't find myself needing something "more" or different. Long after the relationship ended, I still maintain that fantasy and think back with fondness on actually having achieved it at one point. But it didn't eliminate the fantasy because at one point I finally achieved the ultimate satisfaction of exactly what I had been seeking.

littlesarbonn,

I am pleased on your behalf that such a personal fantasy was achieved. However, I disagree that your fond reccolections, or the consideration of being able to re-achieve the condition you described consititutes a fantasy. Once you achieved the focus of the original fantasy in reality, it became an activity. A beloved one... a preferred one, from the sound of it, yet no longer a fantasy but an active reality.

Further, with the achievement of the desire, your recollections of the event also do not qualify as a fantasy, but are, instead, simply a fond memory.

I have been to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure on more than one occassion. Each return trip is not the fullfilment of the original fantasy I had to go there before I had ever been, but the re-enactment of an activity I now know I enjoy tremendously. I do not have to fantasize anymore about what it might be like to go to the park, because I have already fullfilled that fantasy. I do, however, love the reality as much as I did the fantasy before it came true.

Having an apartment in the center of the park where I can live permanently?

Now that's a fantasy.

Hehehehe  "They" say to write what You know about, seems there are quite afew doing just that ,here on Collarme.  And my Congratulations to You,  not a  easy thing to bring what was just an idea,  to fruition, in any endeavor,  So many things
seem to take away from ones focus, and many good, independant  ideas fall to the wayside, never reaching fruition, I know, speaking for myself.  Awesome .Good on You .

********scuffed********

Your smoking  HOT !  I went to Amazon and looked up the books You have published That's incredible.

For those interested (and for those not...), the book is about a man who finally achieves exactly what he has been seeking in turning over his life to his Mistress, but discovers that once he has done so, it's not what he was expecting.

Will the critics simply accuse you of being a male projection fantasy writer?

Congrats on your new book! I wish you high sales and much success.

I went to your Amazon page and saw 12 other books by you. I felt a bit surprised to see one with a publish date all the way back to 1974.

Sounds like fun writing those patina, but you might want to title it "The Dominant", since dominate is a verb.
