Good Morning/afternoon for those across the pond, and Merry Christmas to everyone here!

Granted, I am not a terribly religous person so the "twue" meaning of it does escape me a bit.....BUT......it is a special day. A day I get to spend with those I love most in this world. Cook for them, give them gifts I know they will love, things they wouldn't get for themselves. Take photos that we can look back at with love and laughter in years to come.

This year's Christmas has been more anticipated than any in years for me. I haven't wanted to kick a bell ringer or throw a radio playing holiday music out the window. The commercials have only been mildly annoying, granted I don't watch alot of television and none that play the most annoying commercials....but still. Watching Antonio Banderas fling his head at a woman half his age in some cologne commercial is still humorous rather than sickening.

I guess, things in my life are really good right now, family stuff to be so thankful for. I just feel so, blessed, happy, at peace. Sure, there are things I would love to change, no special sub/slave girl here is of course one, more cashola to pay the holiday bills would be nice.......but overall I really cannot complain at all. When I look back over my 45 years, at least the ones I can remember, there have been some really horrid times. Holidays that were just bloody awful for one reason or another. Today, this morning, they all fade. And yanno, I would trade one of those crappy holidays for a better one because without them, I wouldn't see the beauty of those like today.

To all of you that are sharing some of this same feeling, I am so happy for you. For those that are having a holiday like many of my past holidays......please know that it can and will pass. If I could share with you all the bizare twists and turns of  my life to emphasize my point I would. Suffice to say life is ever changing and it does get better. I promise. It really really does.

I love Christmas. That's right, I said it: I fucking love Christmas.
It's one of my favorite times of the year.

In spite of the exploitation, the confusion, the bastardization, and
the crumminess of the holiday, I still get as happy as can be when
Christmas rolls around.

You see, even if you're not Christian, if you're not Pagan or
Consumerist or anything, you can still believe in Christmas. For that
matter, in Yule, or in Hanukkah, or in Kwanza (even if it's a fake
made up holiday :P ), or any of the solstice traditions. You can
because they all have the same root, the same meaning, I think.

The winter solstice is an auspicious date in the celestial calendar.
It is the mid-winter, the shortest day of the year when (half) of the
Earth is cold and bleak and farthest from light. It is a time of
hardship, toil, and death.

And yet...Throughout all civilizations of man, it is a time for high
holy days. A time to celebrate and give thanks and bask in warmth.

It is a time when we look back to the past and remember hardships that
we have overcome and memories of joys that have shaped. It is a time
when we look around at the present, and seek to give comfort and
solace to our fellow humanity. It is a time when we look to the
future, and pledge to continue to do better.

It is a time for hope. Hope that flickers and burns in the cold, hope
that even in deepest dark, the sun will shine out all the brighter,
and we can endure. Mayhap, mayhap even for the better

Today, let us all remember that meaning, that unifying meaning, no
matter what our creed or belief. As friends, as fellows.

Happy Christmas, CollarMe.

Peace and love to everybody.
