******Warning: please do not read this post if you haven't read the Half Blood Prince*******

Am i the only one who thinks that the ending of Half Blood Prince was an elaborate ruse to protect Snapes work for the order?  ( i think Dumbledore was going to die anyway....because of whatever was eating away at his hand)....what better way to ensure Snapes  cover as a death eater, and to save young Malfoy.

No, i think so also. For one thing, Snape has done to many things to help the Order, when it was not necessary to keep his cover. One example is getting a hold of the Order when Harry when to the Ministry of Magic.

CalliopePurple -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/23/2006 2:21:54 PM)

I'm not speculating on anything related to Snape because it's too complicated and there are still a lot of things about him and his history with Dumbledore that we aren't going to know until the end. But I will say that I think Malfoy is going to have a big role to play, for one side or the other, before all's said and done with.

I mean, you can't ask a 16-year-old boy to kill someone and expect that to not alter him forever. Yeah, he's not a very nice kid to beging with, but there's probably been some effect on him as a result of the events of HBP. If anyone wants to talk more about this with me, drop me a line on the other side and I'll give you my Yahoo Messenger name.

...I still wish for my Lucius icon.

Missokyst -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/23/2006 3:54:09 PM)

I know she is killing off two characters at least.  I am hoping it's not Harry, Ron or Hermoine, who bites the dust.  I really don't want to see the the series continuing with them as college students, but I want my illusions intact!
I HATED seeing Frodo going off at the end of LotR.  I wanted to see a happy ending, conquoring the bad guys, and going home to life and love.
I detest sad endings [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m18.gif[/image].

CalliopePurple -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/23/2006 4:19:43 PM)

There's a difference between sad and bittersweet. I thought the ending of LotR was perfect because it was bittersweet - a reminder that the world has to move on and heroes can only serve a purpose for so long. Hell, I cried the first time I got to the ending.

Sad is the ending to Final Fantasy X. You know it's going to happen, you know it has to happen for the world to be saved...but it doesn't make it any happier. I cry buckets every time I watch it.

The ending of the Last Herald-Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey could fall under either heading, but at the moment I'm leaning towards bittersweet. This ends my fantasy geek interlude.

But on the topic of HP, I think either type (sad or bittersweet) would work better with the overall feel of the series than a happy one.

I don’t think JK would be cruel enough or stupid enough (can you imagine the fan reaction) to kill off Harry. Of course I didn’t think she’d kill off Dumbledore.

I think I read somewhere that JK said that when she was done with the seventh book, she was done with Harry Potter alltogether. Of course, she might always change her mind. I would like to see a prequel book – say, more about the origins of Dumbledore and his time at Hogwarts as a student.

Nope. Dumbledore always said that he trusted Snape, it would make him look foolish if he turned out to be wrong. In fact, I think wether or not Harry will have faith in Dumbledore and trust Snape himself will be a major plot point at a crucial moment.

*laughs* Well... not just kids read Harry Potter. I happen to know that there are many who write and enjoy more "adult" Harry Potter stories starring an adult Harry Potter.

Ya know, I couldn’t help but wonder if when two horny Hogwarts students want to get down and the need some privacy – does the room of necessity appear and give them a place, complete with heart shaped bed and Barry White music?

CalliopePurple -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/24/2006 12:48:36 AM)

All quoted text in this post is straight from the source - jkrowling.com

"I am going to write a book about Lily and James once I've finished the seven books about Harry Potter
Hmm... once again, too much Star Wars can do this to a person. No prequels are planned."

"Will you write more Harry Potter books after the seventh?
If you mean more novels, then I think it highly unlikely. I’ve got enough story for seven books and I never planned to carry the story beyond the end of book seven. I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopaedia of the world so that I could use all the extra material that’s not in the books... we’ll see!"

As to the Room of Requirement thought - you don't wanna know the fanfiction I've seen based on that. Trust me.

JK has a story to tell. I know she loves her fans, but I don't think how they'll react to something like Harry dying, which I find quite plausible, figures in to her overall plan. After all, she's already killed off two very well-liked characters and had the Harry/Ginny relationship happen. Some people enjoyed the last, but I was not one of them. Reading it made me want to walk over to the nearest wall and bash my head against it repeatedly.

Dammit, now I want to go back and reread the whole set just to remember why I like Snape so damn much and write something long and drawn-out about him.

That would be interesting to hear about. I've never liked him, largely because he seems like such a bully of a teacher.

DomKen -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/27/2006 12:02:04 AM)

Rank speculation time:

Snape loved Lily. He never intended for Voldermort to kill her when he told Voldemort the prophecy. When he found out Voldermort had killed Lily he abandoned the deatheaters and expressed his remorse to Dumbledore. Dumbledore was a strong believer in love and accepted Snape. Telling Harry or anyone this reason would have been compromising a confidence which is something Dumbledore would never do.

Snape hates Harry both because he is the image of his old tormentor, James, and also Harry is a constant reminder of the death of the only woman Snape has ever loved.

Harry is doomed because he is the last Horcrux. Voldemort intended to create it when he killed Harry and had whatever ritual was involved nearly complete simply awaiting this murder to complete. When the killing curse backfired it caused the Horcrux to be completed but instead of whatever object was intended Harry himself became the Horcrux. Which explains Harry's connection to Voldemort as well as why he parselmouth.

Ultimately i think Harry and Voldemort die together along with either Ron or Hermione.

And yes I have spent far too much time reading the six books and thinking about them. I'll be darned glad when this one comes out.

twistedwillow -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/27/2006 1:39:52 AM)

If Harry dies i'll be distressed, if Ginny dies i'll be  mehh,  if Hermione dies i'll be ohh no poor Ron, and if Ron dies, i'll be hunting down JK!!

I don't know how anyone can not think Ron is just the cutest thing on 2 legs,  i just want to love him and hug him and pat him and call h im george.

I would actually love to see the books continue,  not in University or what ever,  but out in the big wide world,  particularly the love affair between Ron and Hermione, i think that would be simply a comedy of errors  that i just couldnt stop reading about.

DevilsVendetta -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (12/27/2006 3:08:21 AM)

I agree with Harry being the last Horcrux. And I agree with Dumbledore's death turning out to be an elaborate ruse.

------------------------------------SPOILER-------------------------------------

by the way. RAB? Regulus Arcturus Black. Can't wait to see how he figures into this.

goodlittlegirl28 -> RE: Book Seven Has a Name! (1/13/2007 8:21:49 PM)

It's my belief that Harry's scar is the last horcrux, and when they figure it out, either Ron or Hermione is going to have to zap Harry, who thinks he is sacrificing himself for the good of wizard-kind, BUT... instead it will just zap off his scar, and he'll be a normal boy.
I'm also anxiously awaiting the part that Neville will play. That boy has a hero inside him, and I don't think it's coincidence that he could have been the child of the prophecy but isn't.
