and do you care. We outlawed that maybe 8 years ago.

I can breath easier- so I am for it.  The town has a shreddar site as well as a blower that comes by if leaves are on teh curb.

Many towns in rural PA still allow burn barrels -- I have an aunt in the country downwind of one, of course they dont want zoning there.

How do you view burning?

I live in the country and burn all paper and cardboard. I also have a compost pile. The only thing that leaves the property is plastic, glass, stuff that will not break down. Leaves are not an issue as I live on a hill......most of them end up getting blown clear down the valley and in the river.

Needless to say I have no issue with burning, just care in what is burned. But then again I live out in the middle of nowhere, in town I think it is rather rude to subject your neighbours to the smoke.

I remember my grandmother use to burn things like leaves, paper, etc..I see nothing wrong with it so long as you live out in the country..her closest neighbor was like 2 miles down the road lol...I live in the city in a complex so that is not an issue here..

here most people have never even heard of burning leaves...but when i lived in the country in virginia, burning leaves was the only way to sensibly manage them...with huge yards and everyone with at least 4 or 5 huge oak trees, the leaves can get overwhelming, and there is just no possible way to bag them all. not to mention that around there, there was no trash or lawn debris pick-up, if you had to throw something away, you had to drive the few miles to the local dump. so everyone burned leaves, it never bothered me, and to be honest i remember that smell fondly. i think it works just fine out in rural areas, but it's not practical for the city or suburbs. and with most yards around here being approx. 20 feet by 10 feet, having too many leaves is sadly never an issue.

Florida allows the burning of leaves,
as long as they're from books.

As a kid I did not mind it. As an adult- I do.

If one examined burn barrels here- you will find plastics in there. Ild bet  on it.

Studies show that the fumes arent good for you. I feel like im lecturing now. They burn across the road- as it is a differnet jurisdiction. 12-26 it stinks to heck- as wrapping papaer and packaging is burnt.

With all the talk of global warming- the USA has pretty much gutted air quality laws. PA still has acid rain. The paint on the car fades fast.....

We are only not allowed to burn leaves with dead bodies hidden inside. Talk about oppressive.
