LOL- no point.   Now tht you mention it  would not know how to winterize my place. My grandparents did so every year- went to Florida. FOr what they saved on heating bills- it pretty much paid for the gated retired camp they went to. I think things wear out with the weather...

Biggest hurdle is my drs. I cant just leave here. Im on a heavy duty med that pretty much hold me here. arghh.

At least it is within driving distance. I havent been on a plane for years. Some of the shorter flights one is better of driving...as the hastle of flying has become of hastle.

cookies hmm. i take that can mean candy or other wise. put me down for a HUGE grab bag.  :-)

Isn't there a PA LilGirl to keep you warm?

Let me tell you about Florida (which I bitched about on another thread):

  • The house probably has termintes.
  • It probably has hurricane damage.
  • Property taxes are atrocious.
  • The homeowner's association will allow you to paint it only certain colors.
  • Code Enforcement won't let you keep your own boat in your own driveway.
  • If you thwart Code Enforcement, they can take your house away and they can also imprison you. (Violations are a ciminal offense.)

Any more questions about Florida?

I do have some tasty snickerdoodles on hand :)

winterrizing our homes in Arkansas meant putting tacky plastic on all the windows, putting the ugliest towel you could find rolled up at the door seem, sometimes putting quilts over hallway passages, bringing the dogs in and getting yelled at "shut the damn door...we aren't heating the pine trees."

Huh?  It is not cold in my part of the state.  In the mid 40's today.
Wait until January, you are gonna be crying.

You're a pussy! Just two days ago I was outside burning brush, and I put my sandals on so I could wade back and forth through a stream to move stuff around. I thought thw water was nice and warm because the ice had thawed.

It's beautiful and sunny out now -- maybe I'll ride my bike later.

I can't imagine that.  But I also can't imagine living in Florida with the hurricanes and heat and no change of season.  But a visit every so often sounds nice.

Last winter with the jack up in fuel costs, I actaully had a 500.00 gas bill. It was insane because we actually had a milder winter last year than the year before. That was also part of the reason for coming home. You are right though Katy. Not having the seasons does suck. I miss them, but being from FL makes a bit of a difference, for me anyways. I actually love the swamp too though. So it is a two way thing for me.

Now I will go back up there to visit, more than likely when it is god awful down here. Like around July, and Woods Stocks.. hehe..

Very. Restrictions vary by juristiction (county, town, homeowners association), but the homeowner is in a weakened position. Seminole county prosecuted a protestor who trashed his own yard and carved a giant ass that he labeled with officials' names. After a year in prison with muderers, rapists, and other *real criminals*, he was released with an ankle bracelet. However, when the battery ran down, the same judge has threatened to return him to prison to serve out an indefinite sentence.
