LTRsubNW -> So, anyway... (12/16/2006 2:16:03 PM)

The power's been out here for 3 days now in Seattle.

I decided some time back to get myself a pretty large generator and a 125 gallon tank of gas.  It powers up the Fridge, microwave, toaster, Master bed TV, Master wall heaters (it's been in the teens lately), hot water tank, well house, and enough left over to run the pool table lights, my desktop computer, laser printer, and any guest room lights and heaters in case I had visitors (which for some odd reason, I've had more than my share), and I decided yesterday, as a concession to my neighbors (who have no electricity whatsoever) to show some humility.

(Thankfully my 5 robot vacuums are battery charged and they go back to their stations when they need more juice and they can simply trickle charge).

So I decided not to turn on any of my exterior Christmas lights.

(Am I a giver, or what?).

I think sharing your energy is more inline with the christmas spirit than decoration lights anyway.

Good for you LTRsubNW [:)]

     Those storms are really something.  I don't miss them one bit.  Of course, I now live right on top of the San Andreas fault...

    Hope you're spending a little of that juice to send hot coffee or something to the nicer neighbors.

Well, if they'd quit whining about how my TV and stereo was bothering them...I'd consider that.

(But I digress).

By the way....why'd you blow off that photo of you in the car?  That was the BEST photo in all of CM?????

My grandparents in Kent have power, which is why I'm online. The apartment I share with my aunt and uncle in Federal Way was still cold and dark when we left it this morning, but other parts of the city have power so we're hopeful it'll be back at some point today. This is my first experience with a storm on this coast although I'm quite used to hurricanes from a few years of living in Florida.

Hurricanes were better. At least you get to be warm and in the dark, not buried beneath three thick blankets just to sleep.

     It's still up as my profile pic (even if it mostly attracts Eastern Europeans who need a plane ticket).

I lucked out, heat never turned off out here in tacoma.  Alot of the coworkers at the federal way hospital weren't so lucky.  I've offered up the guest beds but so far, no takers.

Will the offer still stand tomorrow night if we don't have power, bettie? j/k. I hope Federal Way gets power back tomorrow.

I'm in Kent so I can have a warm...futon mattress on the floor of the computer room. But warm is better than cold, even if the sleeping arrangement is a little less comfortable. And it's a good thing my aunt didn't buy the cream I wanted to make fudge with because pretty much everything in the fridge is gonna have to be thrown out now.
