Skype calls to cell phones in the U.S. and Canada are just 2.1 cents per minute.

Also, you can get ONE YEAR of unlimited calling within the U.S. and Canada, to any phone, for just $14.95.

So the cost isn't the issue.

Hi Mark William.  You are a marketing campaign by Skype, aren't you?  Admit it! [;)] There are a number of VOIP applications which have much better tariffs than Skype.

I think phone is a pretty good way or weeding out incompatible people more than fakes.  I think the chances of finding a fake online are far less than just finding someone who is a total dullard.

If someone askes for my phone number, and I give it I expect them to call me.

Let's face it, you don't actually have to use it. Perhaps their reaction will tell you all you need to know.

Assuming you're IN the states or canada...As I'm in the UK and kinda might oneday want to meet someone whose phone number I have, skype rates to UK cellphones become 25c a min. I already have the unlimited calls thing, but for us over the pond, it's UKP10 for six months.

Cost is a bit more of an issue over here.

And on the flip side. If I do not ask for someone's phone number yet they give it to me, they should not expect me to call them.

hehe LA yes, I've had people say call me and drop a random number on me and I either ignore them or say no thanks/.

I NEVER ask for personal information until a potential sub has had time to build trust in me, and is comfortable with doing that. Usually, this happens after a period of exchange of emails, chat, and one or more social meetings ( first meetings always in a public place, a pub, cafe, chosen by her).
everyone online has to think of their own personal safety and a dom I feel has a duty to his sub, or any potential sub to consider her safety to.
And also remember, that speaking to someone, or even meeting them only can prove that they are the gender they say they are. Yes, this does cut out some of the fakes. But it doesnt prove they are what they say they are, have the experience they say etc...

One thing I've found works well, again dont do this at first.. is to ask for photos, but to specifically ask for non naughty ones... Most fakers use pics they've got from the web. Have a look round a few adult sites. You'll see lots of pics of ladies in states of undeess. How many sites would have 3-4 clothed pics of the same person in with different backgrounds.. i.e. family snapshot type pics (obviously without the rest of the family in). If someone can share 3-4 of that sort of pic then its highly likely the pics are of them I've found. it's worked for me so far

Anybody who demanded a home phone  number out of me immediately would be someone I wouldn't talk to further. My family matters to me and I insure their safety.
