[sm=dance.gif] In case you missed it in the humor section;

A teacher was asking her class what their families do for christmas.
.
She ask joey and he said, we open presents then have a really big meal then sit around watching parades and football.

She then asked amy who said, we all go to my grandma's house, have a really nice meal then go for a sleigh ride.

Knowing that abe is jewish but not wanting to leave him out she also asked him.
He told her, well my dad gets home from the toy factory about 1:00, we have a nice lunch then go down to his work, stand in the empty warehouse, join hands and sing "What a friend we have in jesus".

That's what you get for being efficient.  See - procrastination is a GOOD thing.  If you had procrastinated, you'd be totally busy now, scrambling to get it all together.

My parents are being evil.  Everything is wrapped and ready and in plain sight! I can SEE the boxes, I know how big everythingis and can even shake them to my hearts content.. ut I am clueless as to whats in there.  And they are marked with which day i can open each.  They love torturing me around holiday time.

At least you get to start opening them sooner! I have to sit around and wait for Christmas Day. As a child I seriously considered switching religions over this...

Yeah, i get to open them sooner.. but one at a time over 8 days.  At least at christmas you can sit down and go into a paper shredding frenzy and get them all done at once.

Ummm...

Christians sell toys too, you know.  Actually, most toys you'd buy are produced by some multinational corporation.

So I didn't quite catch the humor.

I remember my kids recently asking me..."Mom, why do folks celebrate Hanukkah?" and I felt so dumb because I couldn't answer the question..

WHY IS HANUKKAH CELEBRATED?
Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrating a miracle from back in the times when the Maccabees had won a victory over the Syrians, who were oppressing the Hebrews.
After their victory over the Syrians, the Maccabees wished to re-dedicate the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. But they found they had only enough oil to light the lamps of the temple for one night. Miraculously, the oil lasted eight nights. Long enough for new oil to be properly prepared

Does Adam Sandler do a new Hanukkah song each year? [8|]

FangsNfeet -> RE: Let it be Hanukkah already!! (12/11/2006 3:26:29 AM)

Rather than lumping everything into a "Holiday" I perfer to celebrate each one indivdualy. After all, get gifts on the 15th and then again on the 25th. lol

It's worse because I have a whole stack just sitting that I can't wrap because I'm taking them on the plane with me to visit the family.

Pretty much how it's happening.  Hanukkah with one partner, gifts with the other on the 17th before he flies to his family, then my family's big thing together.  Luckily this is my sisters year with us on Christmas otherwise we'd do another round on New Years.

Just want it to get here already!

mnottertail -> RE: Let it be Hanukkah already!! (12/11/2006 8:03:12 AM)

can't you just get drndls (however it is spelled) locally?
Have a great one LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know, there are currently three versions, I think the second version with the kids chorus is the best.

I'll have to youtube that, lol.

MmakeMme -> RE: Let it be Hanukkah already!! (12/11/2006 10:44:55 AM)

I finished my shopping today and am about beside myself. I'm an instant gratification kinda girl ... but there ~is~ something positive to be said for delay.

... and when I think of it, I'll be back to tell you what it is.

fergus -> RE: Let it be Hanukkah already!! (12/11/2006 12:24:50 PM)

I have to wait til Yule!  And most folk have to wait til Christmas!
