Hello and Newbie-ish Question - 12/10/2006 8:33:06 AM

Good morning all.  I'm divorced, middle-aged woman with some submissive tendencies, although I would hesitate to call myself a sub given the subjective definition of such things.

My question:  I am corresponding with a man who lights me right up, displayed a nice certainty from the get-go and seems entirely comfortable with my daddyish, as opposed to master-like, desires.  Given the stories I've heard, I'm becoming ever more nervous about meeting someone I know little about outside of email exchange, especially someone who has the "you will serve my every desire" kinda style going.  He does come across as conceited and a bit of a snob in general - but so do I sometimes, so we may be a good match - or else a very bad one - LOL!  Or he could be an outright scary guy in person.  I don't know.

The kicker is - I just might be happy to serve his every desire, but there is no way I could know that unless I knew what his every desire might entail.  I have heard nothing along the lines of, "Well, what appeals to you?" although he comes very close to nailing my ideal.  Still, there would be no way to know that without asking a person.

So how to open negotiations?  Do I simply ask him to step out of role so I feel better about questioning and negotiating?  Maybe ask him to take psych test to make sure he doesn't suffer from Top Disease/NPD?  LOL.

I think there is a lot of potential here, and I hate to mess it up.  He wants me to come visit him - he wants to buy the airline ticket.  If we met, I would purchase my own ticket anyway and have a room somewhere in case it didn't work at all.  I'm not silly enough to assume that what works by email or phone would work in person.  So I've got to get some non role - person-to-person communication going.

Perhaps I'm just being a wuss about bringing it all down to Earth and reality, and I'm a bit concerned that he has not (yet) taken the initiative in doing that.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I think you are right to be cautious, but don't pass it up, and the hotel room is a good idea until you get more comfortable with him.

Thanks, needto.  I think it could be okay.  I'm pretty sure it's looking good.

Have safe call and all in place.  The danger is on emotional level, I guess.
