D.O.M =Dirty Old Man
 
This is a quirky question that occured to me.
 
If you were involved with one.. how would you ever know?  Is it even POSSIBLE to be a D.O.M. in the D/s world?

Lots of great doms are dirty old men, as long as they admit it and are proud of it, it's great for me.

To expand and clarify:
 
The type of person that would considered a D.O.M. in the vanilla world would have a nitch here.  (True/False)?
 
It might be of benefit to the readers for those that respond, to define what THEY think a D.O.M. is.

I'm not sure exacly how to define a D.O.M. (maybe I am one...LOL)
But yes, I think allmost every kink can find some kind of home in BDSM community.

My Definition
A dirty old man: a man who has sexual fantasies about a woman old enough to be his daughter or grand-daughter, AND attempts to act on them regardless of the feelings of said woman, OR makes it known to said woman and everyone else that this woman is the object of their desire. 

I do think that there is a niche in the BDSM world for this type of person and, I think there are many of them currently operating in the BDSM world.  IMO, they are very creepy and I usually refrain from playing in any space that they occupy.

For me a dirty old man is an openly lecherous person who goes for the hot cute young piece of ass.

Dear LotusSong, Ladies and Gentlemen;
 
I have no issues with adults that range in distance age wise, as to fit the D.O.M., some can see that in 'age role play.'  For every D.O.M. there are D.O.W. who lurk undetected for the most part I'm sure.
 
The only D.O.M., I would want to avoid is an elderly old man wearing dirty diapers that have a big load sagging, as well as not seen a washcloth, soap and water in six decades.

All I can relate the defition of  D.O.M. to was an instance working  the admittance at the local club were this fella walked in and asked me, with toothless mouth  framed by his  4 day beard, if it is ok to expose himself there.   I told im sure, if he was a member :)
 
I think D.O.M. is defined by one's personal "creepy-nish" factor.  What's creepy to one, is not to another.

The OP went from a definition of sexual bent to one of hygeine, but in general for every fifty year old man there have to be at least 29 fifty year old women, I swear. Lots more DOW however you choose to use the term.

I had to laugh when I read this thread. I have several very close male friends who I have known well for nearly 30 years. I sometimes joke with them that I knew them when they were pre-verts....I knew them when they graduated into perverts....and now their just a bunch of dirty old men!

I call this "squick factor". Having been molested by several real life D.O.M. in my childhood, I have a certain squick factor about it...unless I can really tell that the "little girl/boy" is of age. My neighbour (Adrian) is definitely a dirty old man, even though he's only 40 (today, as it happens) - I mean, he only goes for 21 year old girls, and his hygiene isnt what it could be!

However, he remains a dirty old man even when he doesnt have a 21 year old girl to molest. This is a good thing. For me at least. I'm saying no more.

funny thread...being a "young dominant" all I can say is since I have a dirty mind now, when I am "old" I will be a dirty old man and still dominant, therefore if I still like women the age I like 'em now, I might fall under this category then? Those drive up coffee stands are awesome.  I miss Washington specifically because of the readily available coffee at all times.  Oh, and the views are amazing around the ferry.
