#3. Own your words and realize that if you present 'facts' someone is sure to check them out and call you on them if you're wrong. That's a sure fire way to lower your credibility.
#4. It's possible that you're wrong. Admit it and move on. It's possible that you're right, don't expect anyone else to admit it.. and move on.
#5. Beating a dead horse is one of the least productive things you can do with your time. Go bake a pie or something instead.
#6. Pissing contests can be a hoot and are fun to watch, but they do get old if that's 'all' you contribute.
#7. Highjacks can and do take place in any thread on any given day. Once you create a topic, it's no longer yours and it will go where it goes. You can try to get it back on track, but that won't always work. There are some folks who make it their forum life's work to start or highjack threads just to spew venom and they're more experienced at destruction than you are at preservation. Think of them as Terminators. They are relentless. Best to block them early so they don't annoy you.
