President Clinton's Foundation cut a deal with with Indian AID's drug company to supply low cost drugs to children. Way to go Bubba!

quote:

The cost of treating children infected with H.I.V. and AIDS is poised to plummet next year, under a deal announced today between two Indian drugmakers and former President Bill Clinton’s foundation. Cipla and Ranbaxy Laboratories agreed to make 19 different anti-retroviral drugs designed for children available at an average price of 16 cents a day, or $60 a year, which is about 45 percent lower than the lowest current price, the Clinton Foundation said in a statement.

The prices will be available to 62 developing countries and will lead to the treatment of an additional 100,000 people in 2007, the statement said.

I always did love that man.  [:)]

DomKen -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 12:42:35 AM)

Nice to see he is still hard at work doing what is right. That must be why so many hate him. I'm looking forward to his stay in the East Wing in a few years.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 12:44:13 AM)

That has to be a mistake because it's not a faith-based charity.  Only faith-based AIDS charities ever work.  Haven't all you people heard the news?

MasterKalif -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 1:47:16 AM)

that is good news! Good for him....!

pahunkboy -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 4:12:31 AM)

I liked Clinton.  I guess the largest peacetime expansion of economy in HISTORY and a balanced budget are the type of morals we dont want in the white house.....!

Canada was in the process of doing the same last i checked.

Bill just wants to be able to identify the women he should NOT sleep with LOL

toservez -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 8:33:04 AM)

That jerk Clinton. Doing stuff for the greater good while his personal life and morals are highly questionable. Doesn't he not know the american way is the complete opposite.

skiesel93 -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 8:39:04 AM)

I love clinton too. I miss the days when the "adults" were in the white house, and this nation had a strong presence of respectability, maturity, and responsibility. The bar was set high back then, it seemed.

Maybe he hopes that there will be a redeeming quality to his actions now - if they will not save him from purgatory, maybe they might restore his standing in the public opinion and enhance his legacy. Remember Paulus was Saulus first, too...and mind you, I am a very vocal critic of Clinton during his presidential tenure.

As for the American Way - you have to ask yourself lately, what exactly the American Way is if you look at the behavior or our political and religious leaders (e.g., Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, etc.)

Foley and Haggard were never our leaders. Foley was a very minor congress man from Florida and Haggard was, at best, a bunko artist.

They may not have been your leaders, but they sure as heck were someone's leaders.

Ted Haggard as President of the National Associations of Evangelicals was thereby the leader of 30 million Americans. Yes, Mark Foley was minor with a constituency of only 235,000 actual voters.

I kinda laugh at how prudish Americans are.  No, I'm not condoning sex with minors…but all the rest is only the business of the folks involved.

I think most of the ‘moral lapses’ come about when folks get turned on by the power they wield.  Power is sexy…whether owned or given away.  Isn’t if fairly common that since time has been recorded that people in power generally make personal use of it?  In my esteem, as long as it doesn’t involve minors…it’s nobody’s business.

I’ve always liked Clinton and just can’t abide the Christian Reich who go off the deep end about other’s morals, other’s sexuality, other’s religions.  Sheeshhhhhhhh

I am not condemning Ted Haggard's choices of sexual partners or activities. But I am ciritical of his hypocrisy. He heads a conservative christian organization that supports the sanctity of family and marriage, and condemns homosexuality. And while being a crusader against this "aberration" by day, he is that "aberration" by night.

popeye1250 -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 10:38:02 AM)

He (Clinton) still has that "Great White Bwana" syndrome.
What is it about liberals that they always like to help foreign countries but not their own?
There are still people in his own country who need help from Katrina.
What'll he do next adopt some starving orphans from Africa?

Bearlee -> RE: Credit when its due (12/1/2006 10:43:30 AM)

Exactly, slaveMastery, though, I wasn't pointing fingers at you, honestly.  We're on the same page, here!

Point of order...

President Clinton came under moral scrutiny due to his relationship indiscretions. He was impeached because he lied under oath.

President Clinton's world policies were more in tuned to a "one world government" than President Bush. He placated and avoiding direct conflicts and war creating a very good world economy. Clinton's economy in the US was very much a offshoot of his vision for a one world economy. Were he more aggressive in Mogadishu, or in the pursuit of bin Laden, or in maintaining the defense and intelligence budget the US may not be in Iraq today and more than likely, Al Gore would be finishing up his second term.

Personally I view the Clinton Administration as the last, best chance for the US. He was VERY good for business; both big and small. His signing of the welfare 'reform' legislation was better than any social program cut implemented by any Republican administration. Republicans may have taken credit for it, but he had to sign it and worked directly on its final form. Unfortunately when it came down to the Lewinsky issue, he allowed a small lie to erode his power. He was so much concerned with being liked and his image that he ruined it trying to save it.

Any anger directed toward President Clinton is based upon the idea of wasted opportunity that I feel will never present itself again in my lifetime. Now, polarization is the norm. Name calling is considered legitimate intellectually debate. Pity.
