i think Ron needs another drink.....

on topic....  i dont really worry about who is posting, how long they've been online, if its their first or 2 millionth post.  If its a straight forward answer and i see alot of others have answered.. i skip.  If i'm slightly interested.. i post.  If i think its retarded.. i skip.  If no one else has actually answered the question and is just giving the go around.. and it looks like a good question, i post.  If everyone else is giving the go around and its a stupid question i might join in for the sheer enjoyment of everyone elses go around.

I dont mind the attention getting, dramatic, problematic posts.  They dont affect me.  My panties dont get in a twist (mostly cos i dont wear any), i dont get upset, i dont sit here drumming my fingers, i dont rail at the world because of the injustice, i dont feel sorry for them, i dont run off and cry for these poor people, i dont even try and get head.

Generally speaking, the only emotional reaction i get from collarme is usually laughter.  I usually sit here dying of laughter from something either Ron or LaM has said and when others join in their shenanigans.  Sometimes something one of the regulars posts gets me thinking and every now and then a post gets me heated.  Usually any emotional state caused by a collarme post lasts until i hit the Red X button and go on to another.  (sometimes i dun hit the red x and sit there for awhile and i usually end up alternately hugging my bunny and spanking him)

To sum it all up
i think Ron either needs a stiff drink or a spanking and LaM needs some head.

It's a forum. By posting here, they ask for opinions. I've got one. I share. It's not up to me if they like what I say or follow the advice.

Besides, sometimes, it's amusing and makes for good side-post fodder. LOL

Once, way back a long long time ago when I was newer than new to both this stuff AND the internet, I responded to a pen pal add out of curiousity and, being a sure, I'll try anything once kind of gal, ended up cyberenslaving myself to a cybermaster within a couple of cyberweeks.

About an hour after I did this, I began to think maybe this cybermaster took me seriously.  I didn't know anything about this stuff except what I had read in penthouse letters when I was a kid, so I got a little nervous about what I had done.  Then I got a lot nervous.  So, I began asking everyone I could for information.  Eventually, someone directed me to an aol chatroom.  And, I very ernestly explained my problem right there in a main channel, and very quietly took my verbal beating from all the vultures waiting for the stray newbie to wander in so they could have some fun.  Fortunately, someone took pity on me, realized I was fucking serious, and shut everyone up and gave me the addresses of some web sites which helped me get sorted.  It didn't take me long to figure out that that cybermaster was full of cybershit.

I never returned to that chat room nor did I ever thank that kind stranger.  But, when I see a clueless newbie asking a clueless question in a clueless way, and I think I have something constructive to say, I try to say something constructive because someone had done that for me once.

Do I owe the clueless newbie anything?  No.  But that doesn't mean I can't be nice, anyway.

Ron, I think you are a little jaded ;)

Hard to say WHY a person comes in this way.  New people who come to the net on a site like this with questions and problems are most often scared, or at least unsure.

We all have problems and many of us have outside support networks to help deal with them.  Someone who has no such network, or is embarrased to go to them with it could sometimes use a little friendly advice from strangers.

By the way - *DO* keep giving them tough love!  Often they will be upset when you do, but those are usually the types that just want to gripe and don't intend to change anything or take responsibility for themselves, but the precious few that *DO* listen and internalize some tough advice stand half a chance.

I first came to collarme a little over a yr ago. I was new  to both the lifestyle and the web. And at that time was living in the middle of a cornfield back in Iowa. I was one of those who came here with a question and some drama in an on-line mentor ship. If it was not for the good people here who gave me tons of helpful advice some of which I wish I had taken,  you live and learn, anyway they helped me to see that just because I am sub/slave that I do not have to bow down to just any Dom/Master. And that I do have a right to stand up for myself and that if something feels wrong and you honestly explain that it feels wrong and your reasons behind it feeling wrong and you honestly listen to their response and reason for wanting this particular activity from you and it still feels wrong to the point of making you physically ill. And they still insist on it then maybe they are not right for you nor do they understand the responsibility involved in having a sub/slave.

Sorry if I rambled here but I guess my point is I came here in turmoil seeking help and advice and  got it. There was nowhere else for me to turn. No lifestyle community where I lived and those who I thought I could trust and who had my best interests at heart were asking the unthinkable of me at the time. I have since grown and changed a lot and a lot of that is due to the posts I have read here and the advice I have been given when I have had questions to post. I have since moved and am active in my local community and have great friends r/t but I still come here to the boards for advice and to seek different points of view.

Hey the "scene" we are in lends itself to the dramatic.  When you are faced with some life altering situation that goes far beyond your comprehension (I am 15 years RT and have recently been blown away by a situation myself) then you suddenly find a PLACE where not only can you vent your panic but have people who could possibly understand and help.

I don't think our scene lends itself any more or any less to drama then any other group.  You get a group of people there is going to be drama.  Add to the mix an online forum where people can post their opinions, and wella!  We all have to decide how much drama we are willing to put up with.

findmedaddy -> RE: Just Joined, First Post, Got a Dramatic Prob (11/27/2006 5:01:32 PM)

Guess it's what some do when they feel alone. I did it the other day and wish I hadn't. Lurkers really don't have the same "right" to attention as those you've gotten to know. Man overboard is probably right, Ron. Sail on and let the fishes enjoy the meal.

And why would you come to a bunch of strangers?  I don't get that.

I find sometimes it is easier to talk to a bunch of strangers then someone I know.

Ron, I love it when I see posts from noobies.  Sometimes I can convince one or two of them to suck my cock.

Crikey. I only joined in June this year.

Looks like I had a lucky escape there.

And the inevitable follow up; who here didnt escape? Show of hands?

I have only been on collarme a couple weeks, but thank goodness in the lifestyle for many years....so poor Lordandmaster didn't get a blowjob from me!

KatyLied -> RE: Just Joined, First Post, Got a Dramatic Prob (11/27/2006 5:21:55 PM)

I used to feel bad about people who were so clueless about being a grownup.
Now I laugh and consider them as amusement.
Sometimes it's difficult to be nice....

Well, it doesn't reach THAT far...

I have to admit it is irritating when it seems the only time people want to speak to you is when they are in a jam..

I am a senior member of another forum, not related to this way of life at all, it deals with a hobby and its various technical aspects. 99% of our members first post is a cry for help in one of the various technical sections, some get their answers and then dissappear into the cyber sunset never to be seen again, some stick around and contribute in the social areas and a few even then give back in the tech areas too. It is how I first became a member of that forum, I had a problem I had not come across before so I googled, joined, asked, listened and enjoyed the community spirit there so stuck around. Now im one of the top posters there, and have travelled many a mile to assist other members, attended many good social meets and found a whole bunch of new friends.

I dont contribute too much here yet for two reasons, a) i dont have any problems (cept the lack of partner) and b) I am somewhat rusty too having been 'nilla for too long recently. So as a result I dont have a sub who wont do as shes told, nor am I the best person to explain the best (not that there is one) way to use a cane :)  I do however enjoy posting about some subjects even where I know I am of a very unconventional viewpoint and likely to be flamed or more hopefully provoke thought and intelligent discussion

<general comment>

As a newcomer who's been learning a lot from reading various threads, I'd point out that your advice/experience may benefit many more people than just the original poster. (BTW, is the OP the person, the message, or both?)

Pleased to report that my first thread was a game, not a crisis. [:)]

okay so it doesn't reach this far, but can you pound a 6 inch nail through a 2x4 with it?  A girl's got to have her standards you know!

How bout if it interests you to add two cents, then add two cents. If you need to toss in a dollars worth then all the better. Its a forum.

Its better that we say something than say suddenly stop showing up or say nothing at all. lolol Although that would be sorta funny. What if one day all these people posted and not one of us sayz one damn thing. But I guess not, becuase that then, would make this whole thing a conspiracy. And we're really not all that well organized.

kisshou -> RE: Just Joined, First Post, Got a Dramatic Prob (11/30/2006 3:16:53 PM)

Hiya Master Ron,

I think they are secretly someone here who posts all the time but just make a new name and profile to post anonymously.

I sometimes wish there was one generic anonymous coward login.

I bet we would get alot of great questions with that one, probably too much work for the mods though, though they could make it a post after approval only.

*kiss*

i don't know about feeling required to advise someone new (as i am new myself)...

i generally stay in the casual banter section, unless i see something that catches my eye in the scrolly thing at the top of the page; at that time i check it out and usually notice that someone has said what i want to say and i go away

no one on herer is required or obligated to help advise anyone on any situation, no matter how new or senior a member is; but as a member of the human race, i think we should try to help those we think we can (especially if the only cost is a few minutes of our time)

Well yes Ron, but we love you anyways...smiles

If they don't think enough to come to us and join in why bother?

Because I am often bored.

I am getting bored with CM lately, not because the conversations are uninteresting, but because I posted too much too quickly and I have run out of original advice. When people post stupid assed questions I tend to respond less because I have no new insight to offer often... basically I am jaded... but oh well!

I think questions we have read one too many times need to be answered because others will read them and learn I suppose.... so the tough love you give to one person may be completely wasted on them , but someone else reading it may benefit enormously... it makes it all seem a little less futile anyways (but denial is one of my favorite defense mechanisms according to some people).
