pissthirstysub -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (7/5/2009 2:47:11 PM)

No, there is something similarily uncommon about the locations of these places.

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (7/5/2009 6:52:52 PM)

Greenland is surrounded by The Kingdom of Denmark but really in North America.
El Centro, CA is right by Mexico and has two border crossing facilities.
Kansas City is in two states.
Rock Island, Ill is right on the border of two states

i'm still not sure what we are looking for.
Can you give another hint? Please.

Aylee -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (7/5/2009 6:55:00 PM)

I was thinking border locations.

pissthirstysub -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (7/6/2009 1:19:59 AM)

Greenland is a country covered in ice.
Kansas City is the largest city in Missouri.
Rock Island borders the Mississippi River, but is still pretty attached to Illinois.
El Centro is in the South East corner of California near Mexico.

Locations chosen because they seem to have illogical names.

They are all on plate boundaries/earthquake faults. Greenland is on the mid-Atlantic ridge, Rock Island and Kansas City are on the New Madrid Faultline. El Centro is on the San Andreas Fault/the boundary between the Pacific plate and the North American continent.
