NEW YORK — Fox News firebrand Bill O'Reilly threatened Friday to whack Rupert Murdoch in the wallet for promoting O.J. Simpson's book.

Vowing to boycott any company that advertises on Fox's two-part special hyping Simpson's "If I Did It," O'Reilly said: "If every American walked away from the O.J. garbage, it wouldn't happen.

"I'm not going to watch the Simpson show or even look at the book. If any company sponsors the TV program, I will not buy anything that company sells — ever."

Geraldo Rivera, another Fox News journalist, called the book "appalling."

"I will bash this project every minute I have the opportunity to bash this project," Rivera said.

Status: offline 		Yes, but on the CBS evening news, they said they believe OJ has already gotten his paycheck, over $3 million. I wouldn't pay to read his book, see his show, and if someone gave me the book, I'd throw the piece of shit in the garbage.

Status: offline 		Well, O'reilly and Geraldo gained a couple of points in my book. I hate O.J. I can't recollect actually disliking any celebrity as much as him ever.

Killed his wife, now writes a book about how he "would" kill his wife if he did it. Smug son of a bitch. All the while raising her kids. Fucking sick prick. The publisher is sick, and ole rupert lost any respect on this one as well.

Status: offline 		I have no idea if OJ is guilty or not. I don't follow sports so I don't even know what he is famous for precisely.

But...

Why would a man of such means and power through the sports world kill a woman so long separated from him? Even if he wanted to kill her, why not just hire some muscle to do it for him? Killers can be hired fairly easily any day of the week. As a former sports hero OJ would easily have had access to Mafia types that could have sent the ex away for good in exchange for a payday and they would most likely have done so without even asking why.

So, if OJ had done it he would have simply paid someone to do it. Big fucking deal.

BTW, as a general point of interest I don't think he is guilty. The chain of custody for any possible evidence against him was fucked completely by the police. Further, I have lived places where those kinds of leather gloves are necessary to avoid extreme cold and wind and even if wet they wouldn't shrink in the manner shown by the footage I saw of OJ trying to put the gloves on. Those gloves were clearly those of another person with much smaller hands. I am not predisposed to finding him guilty in any case because I simply think he lacked any serious motive for doing the killings, and even if he wanted his ex dead he could have hired someone to do the job so easily. To beleive OJ is guilty you also have to believe that he did this double homicide as a crime of unthinking passion. What kind of idiot does these things and then leaves the bloody gloves on his own property? Yeah, right...

Lots of  abusive ex husbands come back later and kill their ex wives in a crime of passion.  That's what abuse is - uncontrolled anger/passion/blame/irrationality.  It's not premeditated stuff.  I mean, he could have paid thugs to beat the shit out of her all those times instead of doing it himself, too....but he didn't.

The first time I read your post I thought you were being sarcastic.

This aint CSI. People kill other people in crimes of unthinking passion. It does happen.

Im not sure what a person being "of such means and power through the sports world" has to do with the likelihood that he killed her. Being able to throw or catch a ball does not make a person a criminal mastermind.

I missed the whole orderal. Thankfully, I was out of the country. By the time the trial rolled around, I was back in the US but didnt care to follow it.

I just know that whether he "did it" or not, writing a book about "How I would have killed my ex-wife if I had done the thing that, by the way, many many people think I did" is about as insensitive, selfish and uncouth as a person can get. It just lends credence to the notion that he lives in a fantasy world inwhich he is untouchable.

Status: offline 		I found the evidence of domestic abuse unconvincing. But whatever, this is old and boring news. I just find it interesting how people are willing to convict a person - both in court and in the court of public opinion - on largely circumstantial evidence.

Y'all do realize that the first suspects the police ever look at are close family and lovers, right? Why is that? Because there is evidence of those kinds of people all over a victim and a domestic crime scene - because the victim has physical ties to the people close to them socially. I wouldn't have been surprised to hear that OJ's fingerprints were all over her house and car. I wouldn't have been surprised to hear of evidence of his semen in her bed, on her carpets, or near the nightstand. Does that kind of stuff also mean he killed her?

Maybe real evidence of his presence at the scene of the crime would have been nice.

BTW, the man was found "not guilty" as a matter of public record, but y'all think he is guilty anyway. Maybe he is guilty - but not to the standards required by the law, eh?

I don't disagree with your points. But if I were OJ I still think $3 million might change my mind on it. BTW, he is untouchable. And it's those millions that make it so.

I should probably not have commented on this thread as I think most celebrity threads are not worth commenting on. I just can't get too wound up about the OJ matter considering the real criminals, rapists and murderers in our culture always go free anyway. And yes, I refer to the likes of the monkey in the white house and his ilk. They are guilty of torture, rape and murder if the things we know about Gitmo and Iraq can be proved to be true. And yet we can't even talk about impeachment as a likely outcome. We can't even know for certain any of our representatives will be held accountable for the atrocities committed in our names.

Just to be clear, I have no strong opinion on the OJ thing. He was found not guilty in a criminal trial, but somehow found liable for their deaths in civil court. That strikes me as one bite at the apple too many that shouldn't technically be allowed. As to his true guilt or innocence I simply don't know nor does anyone else. But no, he never struck me as guilty based on the case against him as I came to hear of it via bits and pieces on TV. In and around Los Angeles the police are actual nazis of a kind and they absolutely will plant evidence on you. Further, there is absolutely a racial bias in how they handle police matters there. I am from there so I claim certain knowledge of such facts. Everyone else can believe as they see fit, I just find the uncertainty telling. If you are absolutely sure one way or the other, it says more about you than about OJ.

Status: offline 		Fox has yanked the interview and the publisher has pulled the book.  I'm glad.  OJ is a heartless POS--putting his 4 children (2 of them he had with Nicole) through this just because the annual $300,000 he makes from his NFL pension is not enough to live the lifestyle he feels entitled to.

Perhaps the publisher can send OJ's book to the 12 idiotic, and I believe racially prejudiced, jury members who acquitted this sociopath.

Thank you for that post, justheather.

But when I read it I had that weird feeling that somebody was walking over my grave.  You see, I work in that industry.

Last week I did a workshop being mean (and getting kicked in the head by) to college students learning how to teach self defense.

After it was over, we were chitchatting with them, and a student came up with yellowing bruises on her face and asked my boss (who has worked doing this since the 1970s) what to do about a boyfriend who she broke up with and then she was savagely beaten by him.

Her words in response were "He will kill you."  My blood froze when she said that.  It was so matter of fact and unemotional.

In an abusive situation, things either escalate out of control (at which point the person ends up dead) or they do things to make it not escalate out of control.  The point my boss was making is that a person who would attack or harm another human being out of rage is not somebody one should view as a rational human being.  She told the student that any contact with her abuser would simply start the chain of abuse all over again.  She advised her to make a clean break and have no further contact.  Circle the wagons.  Wait for the abuser to find some other victim.  Getting a restraining order qualifies as further contact, and simply escalates the situation.

There are things which haunt me to this day about the job I do.  The women who have described the abuse they have received.  The women who disassociated under my not-so-tender ministrations.  My boss saying things like that to women.

I would probably be a lot happier if I did not know the things I know.  But that is not the direction my path leads.
