joyinslavery -> RE: Hood (11/20/2006 3:58:41 PM)

Personally, I'm very visual (a very male trait I think) so I enjoy being able to view the action BUT I do enjoy hoods too, for some of the same reasons that were already mentioned.

They definitely have their place and can be a lot of fun.

Edited to add:  I have some issues with claustrophobia as well so I know it can be a genuine concern and my first experiences with hoods were a bit challenging.  I think one can become more comfortable with it when there is real trust with the person(s) you are playing with.  I know it helped me.

The last one who came round, stripped off and put leather hood on before he even heard my voice, wonders of mobiles.

Personaly I like subs in hoods, not the cheap tacky ones, the thick leather ones with collar attached with D ring at front.

petdave -> RE: Hood (11/20/2006 6:13:13 PM)

As a sub (and perhaps more importantly, as a huge bondage slut) i love them... not just the sensory deprivation and the vulnerability (and sometimes peace) it brings, but also the sensation of having my head tightly enclosed. Visually, i like the objectification, although it never really enters my mind when i'm the one wearing the hood. i mean, who has time to think "'elp, 'elp, i'm being objectified!" when your head is wrapped up nice and snug, and every breath smells of leather, and you can't see and sounds are muffled so you have no idea what's going to happen to you next, and... uh, yeah. But, i can see maybe if you're involved in an extended scene with several other subs, all hooded, perhaps all chained together, and... well, okay, YMMV. But i like hoods [:)]

feralcat -> RE: Hood (1/4/2007 6:30:15 AM)

very nicely put dave! I have a bit of a hood fetish...ok...a BIG hood fetish,so far all rubber,but I've seen a leather hood or two that peeks my interest.

Now I know many  - on both sides of the coin -would rather look into the eyes, but I almost find them distracting. So a  subby asked,"but then how do you know what is going on? How do you see subspace, or if the subis enjoying things?". The best way to describe it is that I "feel" it. Sometimes it is just the vibe I get through the hood(odd but the only way to explain it and damn does that give me a rush!)but I "listen" to their body more,because it is all that I have available...ok the moans help ...lol...so I am more focused on them too.

Yes the hoods require trust,and a physical comfort too...but once in them,the world melts away. Touch ,smell ,taste all take over. A cool hand on warm skin a light embrace or just the mere brush of skin against skin...the scent of my skin,lips pressed against the warm rubber that covers their head, a seduction of the senses.

Encasing the head is great for people who have a very hard time "shutting down " and just "being in the moment".Sometimes it is for the shear fact that they are concerned about air! lol...Hey survival kicks in and your head says"air in ,air out dummy! Stop thinking about the bills ,work and whether or not you are going to cum and focus on AIR!" and once you relax ,it can be almost like a mini meditation.

best advice...trust your Dom,relax into the hood ,let it embrace you...and just "feel" ...don't think,just feel.

hoping to find a hood freak among these collarme subbies!

justinasamerk -> RE: Hood (1/4/2007 6:50:53 AM)

(I know collar  me only represents a small percentage of the bdsm world out there... i cant believe so many people are either not into hoods, never tried it, or don't like it...that suprised me)

Sir does have me wear a hood at various times during play.  He owns a few  different types. One of my favorite is an all leather hood that has a  removable  blindfold and cock gag. He has a spandex type black hood, and a rubber hood with nothing but a little hole through  the nose (that one i can't stand,  feels that it is too tight, sqeezes  your head  like a sausage, and a pain to get on and off)
He took pictures of me in the hood and i realized how scarey they really look on people, it seems  it is as if all your personality is sucked away and now you look like an object or a manican, great for the objectification  play, but there is no "humanizing" part to a hood.
Although not a  conventional hood, the best type of hood that we have been using is a thick plastic bag with a rubber tie (the ones they use around your arm when they cut the circulation off to take your blood) and place  the bag over the head, tie it around the neck and fucks me as i slowly lose oxygen, the bag starts to clinge to my face and  my heart rate and breathing quicken...(ok..knows that is breath play..but it is a hood too *shrug*)

Thank Y/you in advances for Y/your replies.

I don't perticulary like them. I like to see the slave, how he enjoys or not enjoys what we are doing.
Also I think hoods make it more anonymus and impersonal.

NJKinksters -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 8:29:42 PM)

I love wearing the hood! I avoided it for years thinking I would have issues as I too am prone to asthma. Fortunately , I have had no issues breathing in it, and I find, for whatever reasons, I tend to breathe in a more relaxed manner when wearing it. I love the objectification , it can be somewhat humiliating (always a plus), and I like how it creates an  alternate means of expression. I cannot make noise, he cannot read my facial expressions, so he has to be more perceptive than usual. It allows me to detach from my dignity rather quickly, I am instantly subjugated, and a good time is had by all  :)

adaddysgirl -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 8:55:17 PM)

i liked hoods....i could breath but not see nor hear and well, that was just awesome!  [:)]

Evanesce -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 9:03:58 PM)

Hoods... I LOVE them!  When I met the Kaptin years ago, I was terrified of anything covering my face and head.  He had a thing for gas masks and hoods, so we started training me to overcome my fear.  The first time He held a gas mask to my face, I burst into tears the moment it touched me.  He took it away and didn't try again for a couple months, but we talked about it a great deal.  The next time, it went a little better, but I still wound up weeping in terror.  Six months later, I was able to wear a full leather hood with zippers at eyes and mouth (I could see through the zippers, so it wasn't quite so freaky).

Today, I'm such a huge fan of objectification that the more restrictive and isolating a hood is, the better I like it.  Two of my favorites are one that has no openings at all except for my nostrils, and one that is two hoods in one - with eye and mouth holes in the inner hood, but the outer hood zips completely closed.  That one tends to get a little warm.  It's also good for light breath play, because the air goes stale rather quickly in there.

I've also developed a bit of a fetish for the steel helmet and mitts Master bought a couple years ago.  It's not pitch black in the helmet, but every sound is amplified tenfold, at least!  It's an interesting sensation to be standing there listening to your blood coursing through your head.

denika -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 9:22:53 PM)

I've  never worn an actual hood but I have had my head wrapped in pink vet tape with an CPR mask. I was at Lupercalia in Edmonton last year and it was a seminar on sensory deprivation. Aside from looking like an insane pink muppet I found it a bit disrrienting and understood how it could be easy to let go in a play setting while wearing one. Did I want to do it again, not really I don't like having my eyes covered, I love the energy that generates from eye contact. And a lot of things can be communicated in a look. I also love the look my Top gets when we play, it ads to the play itself.

no thanks --
1) I have COPD
2) the depersonalizing aspects are a turnoff

sweetnurseBBW -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 10:47:18 PM)

I do not mind hoods. I do like the sensory deprivattion some hoods can provide. For long periods of time I dont care for wearing a hood.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 10:49:22 PM)

I dont like hoods.  I am very reaction-based and a big part of the enjoyment I get out of a scene is facial expression. In a hood, I would lose too much of that.

pablo95060 -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 10:50:34 PM)

i find hoods and gasmasks great..the enclosed feeling is so erotic

TallAussieGirlie -> RE: Hood (1/8/2007 11:01:30 PM)

They scare me. But then again the one time I was made to wear one, I was also tied and left alone for nearly an hour because they thought it would be fun to see my reaction to it.

julietsierra -> RE: Hood (1/9/2007 12:17:13 AM)

I've never worn a hood. Never had a real desire to either. Course, I will if that's what he wants, but some things I see as a problem with them include:
He likes to pull my hair and well... where there is hood, there is no hair
claustrophobia as has already been mentioned
I find them unattractive - but that's neither here nor there I suppose
but my chief reasons for having no real interest in them is shallow and vain.

1) when they zip up, I keep imagining my hair getting stuck in the zipper
2) Can we say "HAT-HAIR??!!

Guess he'll let me deal with my own little hat-hair demons when he chooses to use one, but from the outside looking in on this toy...those are my thoughts.

canupleaseme -> RE: Hood (1/9/2007 1:22:38 AM)

I like the hangman type hood, not tight to the face still abl to breathe ok etc.  I use a dark pillow case at the minute for my boy[:D] lol i like it for several reasons.  When we first started playing i felt better with him wearing it as i didnt like him watching me when we played.  I like it becasue i know how much he wants to watch me.  I like it becasue he doesnt know whats coming or where from.  And i like it whe i have new boots or clothes that i know will excite him and i want to make him wait to see it i make him kneel blindfolded and touch them first and i love hearing his reaction when he realsies what im letting him touch.  Havin said i like hoods though some of them look so scary [&:] i wouldnt want to play with anyother types.

bandit25 -> RE: Hood (1/9/2007 2:48:57 AM)

I've not tried one, nor do I really want to.  I tend to have breathing problems (although the problem is strictly in my mind, I can't seem to overcome it) and I know I would panic with a hood.

Devilslilsister -> RE: Hood (1/9/2007 6:55:27 AM)

My Master seems to love hoods and often tells me i love them too.

Hoods, blindfolds and at times bondage just plain freaks me out.  It strips me of all my defenses and takes away any reactionary time i might have.  (Prolly why my Master loves them).  Sometimes i have minor panic attacks in them and if i'm not bound i tend to cower in a way to shield myself.   My whole life i've worked on protecting myself and in a moments notice he can take it all away.  Egads!

Though i will say, once he's helped me work through any anxiety, fear and my breathing is back under control it gets better.   But i'd opt out if i had a choice = )

NJKinksters -> RE: Hood (1/9/2007 11:54:47 AM)

1) when they zip up, I keep imagining my hair getting stuck in the zipper

Been there!! Most unpleasant! We solved it by buying a " Doo - Rag" which I wear before we put the hood on. Protects my hair and grin gives me street credibility LOL
