This may sound strange, but honesty is SO MUCH easier than dishonesty. When you are dishonest, you end up spending more energy trying to remember what to say in order not to screw up the last lie. Well, unless you're a pathological liar, and then maybe you've already convinced yourself that the lies you tell are already true.
