slavejali -> Talking about the weather... (11/16/2006 4:16:07 PM)

Well its heading towards the end of November and the first day of Summer here in sunny drought ridden Australia. I'm sitting here freezing my ass off. I had to put the heater on last night. We are having all kinds of extreme weather all over the world. Ice caps are melting. I just read bears are dying cause of the change in weather and they can't even have their proper winter nap anymore.

It wasn't that long ago people were denying anything was happening, now the powers that be deem it ok to say, something is...

Where is this all heading?

Speaking of weather, Western Washington State just hit a new record for rainfall in Nov. and the month is only half over. We had record floods last week (my golf course had 5 feet of water on it [sm=ugh.gif]) followed by a wind storm yesterday, our power just came back on but our road is still closed with trees down.  To top that off, there was a huge snowfall in the mountains which will melt with the next "pineapple express" and cause more flooding.[:o]

Artificial elevations. In The Netherlands we call them terp (plural terpen). My ancestors built them to survive flooding by the sea. At a later time we invented dykes.

i think where it's all heading is where it's been heading for years and years, but until people are hit over the head with it, we don't tend to want to recognize something's wrong. Kinda like a society that promotes we should all be alike, dontcha think?

It's warming up in Sydney today, the wind has dropped too. What a contrast to a couple of days ago - when Master and I had to go to the hospital for dialysis it was like a wind tunnel up there.

There are icebergs 80km off the coast of NZ's South Island - I don't think they've ever come that close before.

Well, bums on the street in Seattle are still proliferating, peeing in our alleys, ergo...they're not heading to Los Angeles...so, considering that entire genus's are leaving the planet in droves on a weekly basis...but, the bums are still peeing in our (Seattle's) alleys....I have to say...I'm concerned about the actual science of this global warming thing.

This is completely off topic, but every time I see the thread title I start hearing the Dave Matthews Band song "So Much To Say."
