KenDckey -> OK I don't understand (11/10/2006 7:50:32 AM)

OK   I go off for a day to see English Heritage (Took my grand daughter and great grandkids to the London Bridge) and get back and there was so much discourse that I have been reading for hours and can't seem to catch up.

Some things that I don't understand?

   Why are all republicans........?

   Why are all democrats........?

   Why is the President refered to as Monkeyboy, Criminal in Chief, Commander in Thief and so on?

   Why is it that we are still worried about whether Clinton had a blow job and not on whether he lied under oath (which he lost his license to practice before the bar)?

   Why is it that some people on here keep pushing, after others try to go ahead and back off and just let it go?

   Why is it that being a republican is grounds for thowing people out of the country?

   Why is it that being an alien is a good thing (legal or not)?

I am sorry, but I just don't understand and hope someone can explain it all to me without fighting about it.

If you really think that leftists feel that way, that is terrible, but welcome to my world since 9-11 when speaking out against the scum sucking bottom feeding lying sack of shit murderer was extremely unpopular. I have family that are religious conservatives... I love them, and do not want them to leave the country.

There is a gigantic difference between speaking out against elected politicians and speaking out against the people that vote for them on an individual basis. I love my End Time Jesus is Coming So Look Busy brother, even if I believe him to be totally misguided.

I believe so strongly we were lied to so we would not object to Bush invading a soveriegn country that had no means to attack us. That makes him worse than dirt and a war criminal.. how else can I explain it other than Hitler's propaganda minister used the same techniques to get the German people to go along that Karl Rove used.. and yes this makes me very angry to the depths of my being because it was done in my name. If you think Iraq was a mistake I would think you would be angry too.. it is not a little oopsy after all.

I do not think that i was extreme until I found out how much we are lied to and how many people suffer for it... My political ideals were formed in response to that pain and suffering. More and more people are waking up and it is not a pleasant reality

You forgot Simian In Chief.

I read a bumper sticker once which asked somebody to give Bush a blow job so we could impeach him.

Clinton really does not need to actually work as an attorney again.  He was already rather wealthy and charges lots and lots of money for public speaking gigs.

They came here illegally, just like everybody else.  And I include the native americans who migrated from Asia over the ice bridge and slaughtered most of the large mammals on the continent.

The answers can be found in the show Invader Zim.  He has come to this planet under orders to conquer it, and is repeatedly thwarted by the second grader who lives next door.

Julia, Bush invaded a "*sovereign* country?"
Well, I guess Saddam was "Elected" by 100% of the vote now wasn't he? (lol)
(I wonder if Diebold had anything to do with that?)
Bush invaded the (wrong) country!
Bin Laden is/was in Afganistan/Pakistan.
Iraq was a "present" for Exon/Mobil.

Soveriegnty has nothing to do with democracy, I suppose that is easy to mix up though. The concept of sovereignty was much explored by a man named Cardinal Richelieu who was the priminister of France in the 17th century under a monarchy, a consolidatory of power for the monarchy. He was not in anyway concerned with democracy

caitlyn -> RE: OK I don't understand (11/10/2006 11:39:57 AM)

Why are all republicans........?
Why are all democrats........?

They aren't. People can't be labeled with a broad brush. I'm a liberal that isn't pro-choice. I know a hard-line conservative (one that brags that he has never voted for a single Democrat) that feel the government should completely control the health care industry. The moment you hear anyone label with a broad brush ... just find your favorite daydream and pretend you're paying attention.

Why is the President refered to as Monkeyboy, Criminal in Chief, Commander in Thief and so on?

I have no idea ... and even less of an idea why those that do this, can't see that all it does is make the other side dig in. We say we want a government that works together, but do whatever it takes to drive it apart. Maybe I will understand this as I get older ... but I sure hope not.

Why is it that we are still worried about whether Clinton had a blow job and not on whether he lied under oath (which he lost his license to practice before the bar)?

I don't care about either one. He isn't President any more. I wouldn't have cared about it back then either. He lied about something that was none of anyone's fucking business. I wouldn't have cared if he was doing S&M with Al Gore in the Oval Office every night. It's none of anyone's business. When somene pokes their nose where it shouldn't be, the person having their life wrongfully poked into, is under no obligation to respond in any particular way.

Why is it that some people on here keep pushing, after others try to go ahead and back off and just let it go?

I would bet the answer is different for every individual.

Why is it that being a republican is grounds for thowing people out of the country?

It isn't.

Why is it that being an alien is a good thing (legal or not)?

Some of us feel that "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.", shuld be more than just a cool phrase. On a more practical note, some of us think that allowing these people an opportunity is a) the right thing to do, b) the best way to get cheap labor here in the USA, c) what made our nation strong in the first place. This is compounded, because most of the people that bitch loudest about ilegals, also bitch the loudest about outsourcing.

I am sorry, but I just don't understand and hope someone can explain it all to me without fighting about it.

No fight here ... [;)]

I will only attempt to comment on two of your musings:

ORIGINAL: KenDckey

Because some thrive on dramatic argument, and need to keep pounding until they are certain that everyone has heard their opinion.  It is my opinion that it's more of an insecurity thing.  It becomes less about discussing the issue and more about hearing (reading) themselves speak (write).

Good luck with that (see previous answer).

Okay, as to the Bush nicknames:
First of all, you need to check out the site that compares "W" to a chimpanzee. I wish I had the URL for you, but a quick Google or Ask.com search will get you there.

Secondly, you need to look back at the election six yers ago, and you'll quickly discover why Bush is the "Commander in Thief" The GOP stole the national election. When the difference between the two candidates is under 500 votes, and over 6000 votes from the key state of FL were tossed because those folks' (mostly black people) names were similar to convicted felons, you begin to get the idea that maybe things were rigged. Oh, yeah, and the Supreme Court judge who made the final decision on the election? ..... career republican.

There were voting irregularities in conservative dominated precincts as well as liberal dominated ones.  But Gore only wanted to recount the liberal dominated ones.  Had Gore been smart he would have asked for a State-wide recount.  It would have been fair, it would have been near impossible for the Repubs to fight and he just might have one the Presidency.

Gore was a fool, what he tried to do looked like he was trying to rig the election, and he paid for it.  His only consolation is that he invented the internet - LOL

Just because.

toservez -> RE: OK I don't understand (11/10/2006 2:17:06 PM)

Boy I agree I was off for over a day and a half and the gloves seem to be off. If I had to guess people on the left have been giving hope and now really would love to see some questionable things looked into and throw in some payback for wasting two years and millions of dollars on a blowjob. The right now is nervous from the super paranoid who believe everything Rove and Bush say and  the more normal who do not like their ideas and beliefs under attack from a now more formible force. It cannot feel good when clearly the voters said enough of this. Right or wrong.

Personally as a person in the center who feels left based on how the Republicans have pushed this country it is a truly incredible feeling to know that we have a voice in the government again. It truly does and not just water cooler type talk. Hope is a powerful drug.

Here, have two! (Replicators are another reason it's good to be an alien.)
