Status: offline 		In Arizona.. we have voted FOR:
 
Legalizing Gay marriages
 
English is now our official language
 
Hog and Veal farms must now house their animals in humane conditions (they have until 2013 to comply though!)
 
The State is now a no-smoking state.

My boi moe from AZ would like to clarify that ya'll voted to not ban the marriages, which isn't the same as legalizing them. They're still not legal, but now you can enjoy same-sex domestic partner benefits, like insurance.

Ah.. thank you for the correction.  It was hard to remember just how far things were going. I knew we were the only one of 8 states with that on the ballot that passed it.

Status: offline 		smoking is not illegal, it is not allowed in public buildings such as government offices, restraurants, stores  etc. You can still smoke in your house, car and outside.
Gay marriage is not legalized as another poster mentioned, it is just not illegal, gays may now put their significant other on their life insurance and health insurance policies as any heterosexual couple would do. They also can be declared in a will as a partner and have power of attorney as such, this was a very interesting proposition.
Another poster mentions Disney having allowed gays to put down their significant other for health insurance benefits etc., this happened almost 10 years ago. Other large corporations followed suit albeit very quietly, but there are still some large companies out there that do not allow it.

Status: offline 		Well, here in Arizona we have sucessfully put a huge dent in the profits of "mom and pop" bars, thanks to the passing of the non-smoking proposition. if you are a smoker in Arizona you must prepare yourself to suffer silently in the 120 degree heat next summer as you smoke your cigarettes outside while all your politically and healthfully correct friends enjoy their caffeine, alcohol and fattening foods inside. 

we also passed the English as the Official Language...as an English teacher i have to laugh..

Status: offline 		I'm not sure what they speak here in Kentucky,. sometimes it sounds like English. The local population is up in arms [no pun intended] that you can longer gun down anyone on your property no questions asked. Shocking I know but the mortality rate for pizza delivery boys was getting out of hand.

What they loose in smokers..they will make up in non-smokers' patronage.

I've actually corrected people when I hear them doing that but I'm a big guy and I carry a gun.

"No,no, it's "I'M GOING TO THE STORE."
So is Arizona going to stop taxing tobacco products then?
No gay marriages here in South Carolina. Only 23 % voted for it including your's truly.
We voted for a county-wide 1 cent sales tax over the next 7 years to improve roads though as this area (Myrtle Beach) is growing in leaps and bounds.
And they don't speak "English" here except for us transplanted Yankees, they speak several different dialects of "Southern."
You go 20-25 miles inland and you're in "Billy Bob" country and yes they do grow tobacco, cotton and peanuts there.
Oh, and I found out that S. Carolina grows more peaches than Georgia!

Status: offline 		Well being a person who is highly allergic to tobacco smoke,  I am happy to see this. I go about once a week with my wife, who is also very allergic to tobacco smoke, to a local bar and grille and try to enjoy some kareoke with my brother who does smoke. We always come home and take our allergy medications and strip off all of our clothes and put them immediately in the washer so we are not subjected to the smell that will will cause an allergic reaction and then we bathe to get rif of the smell on our bodies. Smokers do not realize how bad this is because they smell it all the time.
My brother has said that he will not mind going outside if he wants a cigerette, he says he will have plenty of company and that is fine with me, at least I will not be subjected to the second hand smoke.

I haven't checked all the states yet, but it seems like the ''Takings Clause / Eminent Domain'' legislation won by a landslide in most places.

Correct. if that is an immediate action.
 
 "I'm going to go to the store." indicates a future event. 
 
Now, saw and seen drive me nuts!  If one had just seen something.. it's "I saw a bug", not "I seen a bug". 
 
'Seen' is for something in the non-immediate past and needs a helper verb such a "I HAD seen a bug".
 
I'm not even going to tackle the verb "to be".

It pays for anti-tobacco education.  Don't worry about it.  We just gave them somethng different  to "suck-up" (and it doesn't cause cancer or  pollute)

Status: offline 		Smoking's been banned in pubs and restaurants in Scotland for a few months now; some establishments are doing OK, and some are going out of business - I guess it depends on what clientele they enjoyed before. Some pubs, known as boozers, were always populated with smokers and now theyre empty. The only problem with the policy is, that whereas these people used to go to the pub to smoke, they now stay home and smoke with their kids there, breathing it all in.

Keeping illegals who have committed an offence in jail is an excellent idea; in UK we have enough problems from legal immigrants who skip off to Pakistan when they're up for court, let alone illegals. Trouble for us is, our gaols are all full and now we're using police cells and anywhere else we can find to put criminals in. True story from my town; British Pakistani taxi driver, arrested and charged with kidnapping. He was kept in custody (unusually) and then at court told the judge that his father in Pakistan was ill. The judge adjourned the hearing for three months so the guy could go to look after his ill father. Needless to say, that's the last we've seen of him. How fxxxin' dumb is that!?

And the English language thing? I sympathise totally. It makes me cringe when I hear some of the things people here come out with - and they're English as in proper English , chromosomes here since year zero English!
"I's goin" (I'm going)
"We am" (we are)
etc
Still, it identifies people the second they open their mouths, as to whether they're worth talking to, I guess!

Crickey, between the "no smoking" ban and this, i do not feel like moving to AZ.  Maybe that was the idea behind such laws.
