Okay ..the Dems have been backed up
by a lot of Americans who are fed up with
what's been going on with our country.
So..in your opinion..what should be done?
What do you think will be the first change?
Do you have a plan of action?

If they did nothing at all it would be far better than the outrageous looting we have experienced for the last 6 years.

I expect gridlock. Congress will vote shit up and the Prez will veto the bills or use signing statements to undermine any laws he might actually pass.

Having the ball is having the White House too, and that's not the case right now.

They should do what the Republicans *haven't* done.

Secure our border with Mexico and enforce our immigration laws.
Get us out of Iraq.
Stop spending us into oblivion.
Get a National Healthcare Program in place so that ALL Americans are covered.
Stop all the "outsourcing" of good paying American jobs to foreign countries.
Get us out of the so-called "free" trade deals like NAFTA, CAFTA and GATT.

Did you see how defeated and humble Bush looked during his press conference.  The fact the WhiteHouse didn't see this coming shows how disconnected they are from the country.  Seems now rather than "screw anyone who doesn't agree with me" his tone was "We all have to work together"

Nothing will change, except for the worse. Nearly all politicians, whatever their party colours, have the same evil agenda. They are sleeping in the same bed together.

Well what do you think will happen?
For instance..the tax cuts..the ones that are supposed to be "only for the rich"
What will happen there?
Will it simply expire? Blink out of existance?
The minimum wage is going up..
What else?
What can be accomplished now that would not have been
possible yesterday morning?
Sincerly looking for answers.

Playfull, too bad for Bush or any politician who doesn't listen to the People!
Nice how the congress gave themselves a nice raise but wouldn't raise the minimum wage rate!
They need to raise it to a realistic rate like $15 per hour which is not a lot of money these days.
Five dollars fifteen cents is minimum wage?
I was making $5.25 per hour in 1974 for loading and unloading trucks.

That sounds so simple, but it's not.

If you raise the minimum wage for some, then you lower it for others - namely to $0.00 per hour because fast food and other jobs like that would have to get rid of employees.  Some businesses on the verge of bankruptcy would have to close (making all their employee's minimum wage $0.00)

When you raise the cost of labor, you have to offset that increased cost somewhere else - so prices go up making it more expensive to buy items made here in the U.S., so people buy foreign products which puts a crimp on the businesses that have to cut costs (usually labor) or go out of business.

So, this simple solution gets very complicated and the action you intended may happen, but all kinds of unintended actions happen as well and then your "solution" to one problem creates a multitude of other problems.

There are no simple answers to the problems that face our country.  I always say if there seems to be a simple solution to the problem then the implications of that problem must not have been clearly defined.

Raising the minimum wage sounds good, but trace the impacts of that path and see what else needs to be considered first.

But this is part of Bush's style. He did the same thing when he started begging help in Iraq from the UN. His line went from "I don't need a hall pass from the UN to invade Iraq" to "What's done is done and now let's work together to fix the mess." What would you do if one of your friends did that kind of shit? The same thing the EU and NATO are now doing, staying out of the mess he caused.

Love em or hate em, it was the House Republicans who blocked the illegal immigrant amnesty.  I imagine that will be at least one issue where President Bush gets along just fine with a Democrat controlled congress.

WyrdRich, a lot of the new democratic congress are moderates.
If they know what's good for them they won't bring any type of "amnesty" up again.
The next election is only two years away and the American People are against it.
The political tide can turn on you very quickly.
