My point is simple, both are bad, I am criticizing Ortega because Batista is not running in that presidential election (he is dead). MasterKalif: I am sorry I misunderstood you...it is clear now that you do not think the Nicaraguan people are stupid just ignorant and childish. Is it really true that over half of the people in Nicaragua are under 25 years old? I was there a few years ago and that was not the impression I got. You mentioned Cuba and Castro as an example of how those who overthrow dictators are not necessarily democratic. Cuba has more democracy today than it has had since Columbus got here. The cubans in Cuba love Castro. The only cubans who do not like him are the followers of Batista who live in the U.S. Who exactly are these thousands of people Ortega has murdered....wer'nt they the same thugs the U.S. sent into that country to destroy Ortega? BTW: Did you know that Anastasio Samoza was a Colonel in the USMC? thompson

[/quote Popeye: No ...they are desperately poor because of U.S. policy...If you would read the book I sugested to you perhaps it would cause you to rethink your position on forign aid. You and I agree on ending forign aid but for different reasons. The only beneficiary of forign aid is U.S. business not the country to whom it is being "given" thompson

"the cubans in Cuba love Castro".....IF that was true why would he put journalists and teachers in jail for signing a petetion asking for an elected Government? That's democracy? Being jailed for signing a petition?

How; for the love of God, did this go from Castro to to democracy..... And by the way, Castro has done a damn fine job keeping Americans off his ass Regardless of his shortcomings
