"Ya know what?  I'm gonna do everything I can to get federal spending in (our state) to exceed all previous expenditures, both in per capita investment as well as actual dollars.

I'm going to enjoy the perq's of being a federal Congressman, I'm going to enrich myself (who wouldn't?), I'm going to enjoy fully paid for skiing trips for my entire family to Switzerland, I'm very likely going to end up with some sizeable commercial land holdings solely because I was elected to federal office (and those bastards wanted an extension of their wetlands allowance as to buffers for upstream salmon...they got it...natch).....but....

...I'm going to also, in the process, work my ever loving ass off to make you wealthier in the process."

      During the whole "let Tookie live" crapstorm here in CA, I kept wishing our Governator would have just stepped up to the microphone and said, as only Arnold can, " Tookie, you're terminated."

There was a Richared Gere movie quite a few years back, and the name is completely escaping me, but there was an honest, straightforward politician who told it like it was. He didn't get elected.

     You know Julia, it would be really nice if you stopped assigning value systems to me.  If you were paying attention in the thread you are referencing, you would be aware that I am pro-choice.  I guess you think only Liberals can see nuance and shades of grey.

   Sorry I don't fit your shallow end of the pool notions.

     That would be a problem then.  Any of the terms I typically use to specifically describe Marxists or Trotskyites would likely result in that nifty awaiting approval message. 

      Is "Leftist" ok?  Whatever you prefer.  You'll find my position on most issues clearly stated in my sig line.

I prefer human being.... but that is just me and I do not need to demonize those with different opinions than my own...


I went to school to see how people interacted with their environments, and why people do the things that they do in relation to each other. In the course of my studies I found Marx very much influential in his Materialist philosophy of why people are the way they are. My Marxism is not just a political philosophy, it is more of a tool to understand how people exist within their environments and interact with their economic base. Marx wrote for 50 years, he was brilliant, and still influential in the social sciences. If you are interested in more than commie scares and propaganda, compare and contrast materialism with idealism. Both have their place in understanding humanity, although they are not the only tools I have employed....

It is more than a political statement that I find value in Marxism, Marx has given me tools and insight into things I would not have had an insight into intellectually. Anyone that scares the pants off the status quo is the real heretic....and a real radical
