fantasy69maker -> Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:18:54 AM)

In another thread  Its mentioned that  that thread might not be appropriate here because he sees no eveidence that it si about Bdsm No bondage discipline sadisum or masochism
Is Domination and submission considered to be a part of Bdsm to most of you?
I always thought it was Bondage Domination Submission and Masochism .LOL OPPS!

crouchingtigress -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:23:35 AM)

hard to answer out of contex and with such limited information...[;)]

TexasMaam -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:24:39 AM)

I'm sure the comment you refer to is trying to point the OP to the Off Topic Discussion board.  That's were we post non BDSM related posts, for the most part.

TexasMaam -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:26:18 AM)

There are a few other boards for non BDSM related topics here too, like the polls, rants and raves, the joke board, the health and information board, etc. Whatever the non BDSM related topic on here there's usually an appropriate board to post where it will be welcomed.

I think opinions differ on what should be in this forum and what should not be here. It is the mod's decision and they have guidelines they follow. I do not think it is incumbant upon me to discern what is welcomed in this forum and what is not.

I have noticed that D/s topics are not moved, therefore the owners of this site and the moderators must feel it is an appropriate topic in the BDSM sense...

Argentopal -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:37:20 AM)

the acronym bdsm has traditionally meant  bondage discipline sadism  masochism

a few years ago some people began to say - bondage /discipline/Dominance/submission/ sadism / masochism

For me bdsm means the former and simple D/s means the latter.  For me they go have in hand but can be seperate.  But for purposes of posting on CM, it seems to me that both/all are welcome - but "off topic" posts do have their own seperate forums.

I believe it's Bondage DISCIPLINE Sadism Masochism

But then discipline is  ferreted by the Dominant.  Tough call.

emdoub -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:48:40 AM)

First - it's a multiphasic acronym.  B&D, D/S, S&M (Bondage & Discipline, Domination/Submission, Sadism and Masochism, respectively), with the D and S both doing double duty.  Has been, ever since I first ran across it in '92. (It's my understanding that it first came into use on usenet's alt.sex.bondage.)

Second - yes, D/S is entirely welcome here.  On rare occasions, that has to be pointed out to folks who forget it for a bit - but d/s and the discussion thereof has always been on-topic in this forum and on this site.

Jumping in to whine when nobody has actually said "d/s is not appropriate here" is perhaps less welcome, but it is not, to the best of my knowledge, off-topic here either.

Rover -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 10:53:13 AM)

I believe it was the Society of Janus that expanded the BDSM acronym to become Bondage/Discipline, Dominance/Submission, Sadism/Masochism in order for BDSM to truly be an umbrella term for the entirety of the lifestyle.  Most organized groups have also embraced that expanded acronym, though some have not.

I think it's fair to say that there remain two distinct branches to the BDSM umbrella.... sensation play as represented by B/D and S/M, and power exchange relationships as represented by D/s.  Of course, people can (and do) engage in both.

It's a difficult thing to adequately recognize differences, while not allowing those differences to separate us (if that makes sense).

For me, there can be no bdsm without D/s - D/s is where it starts, and can lead into bd or sm.

Maybe it's because I've not had enough coffee...but why'd ya cap the discipline? *scratches her head amidst a huge yawn*

LadyHugs -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 11:39:10 AM)

Dear fantasy69maker, Ladies and Gentlemen;

D/s is welcomed on thread venues which forums read under D/s, Bondage, S&M, M/s and such.  People do try to stick to topics related to any lifestyle, community and such.

For those who want to talk about non-scene, non-lifestyle discussions, there is a nice "OFF TOPIC" section lower down on the menu, where people can talk about everything and anything in reason.

It gets easier when you learn your way around any new to you format.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Basically, this site is about tying people up and fucking them.  Some people have a deeper understanding than that; some don't.  If "BDSM" doesn't do it for ya, just call it "d/s."

This is how it started for Daddy and me.  He has always been the Dominant One and I am the submissive one - to Him.  The other stuff became wonderful sequels to the original story we set out writing as we created a relationship with one another.

Well, we all know that Wikipedia is THE place to go...*chuckle*...that arcticle includes Ds in the acronym BDSM. So, if another person agrees with you, then for some people at least, it's true. Might not be for the other guy and the judgements he makes using his definition is "his stuff" not "your stuff".

Laugh...thanks for the link.  I love the strappado pic on that page, but it's not TRULY strappado, because she's not being suspended.

And for me, as others that we know and play with, there is a lot of  b&d and s&m without any D/s.  We are a straight couple, we have a really good lesbian friend.  She loves to come spend the weekend at our house and help Argent do "guy stuff" and then she washed the dishes for me after supper.  We might watch a movie and snuggle with her on the couch. Or one of us might flog her, or do a long knife play with her or any number of things.  She is a "service oriented bottom" but she is definately NOT a submissive!  There isn't one bit of D/s between the 3 of us, yet we both love to play her, and I guess she loves it too, since she keeps coming back!
So, just to make sure everyone remembers that what works for or is necessary for some is not at all for others.  To us, that's one of the grad things in this life - the incredible diversity!

crouchingtigress -> RE: Is D/s welcome here? (11/4/2006 3:20:54 PM)

i hear you, but i am not sure i agree, the fact that he is dominating the flogger and that she is submitting to his lashing makes up the D/s of that situation....IMHO.[8|]
