Arpig -> RE: Daylight Savings Time (10/29/2006 10:18:46 PM)

Sorry folks, I just do not understand what the issue is here. I have lived in countries with DST, and in countries without DST, and guess what? I never really noticed any real difference or issue. One's internal clock is an incredibly versitile thing, I have spent much of my youth in trans-pacific travel and never had any issue with jet lag either, it is very simple to deal with the "internal clock" issue. Stay up. Just don't get anywhere enough sleep the night of the change (or arrival) and stay up all day and go to sleep at your normal time by the clock. Guess what, the next morning when the alarm goes you are back in sync.

Well, since you are re-setting your biological clock, are you feeling any of the desires of your yoot?  If so, I will volunteer to do the nasty with you.....should be harmless...........

LOL,
Ron

Question ... wasn't one of the original concepts of Daylight Savings Time to give Farmers more daylight hours in the morning (this would be going back many decades when agriculture was still a family affair and the hugh combines we have nowadays didn't exist)?

Indiana just switched to DST for the first time in the last couple of years - it's really messing them up because large chunks of the State are dependent on out of State metropolises like Louisville and Chicago.

Personally, I love it - without DST and the twice a year time changes, I wouldn't know how many clocks and watches I actually own and where they are hidden ;-)

Idea of Daylight Saving Time
The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin during his sojourn as an American delegate in Paris in 1784, in an essay, "An Economical Project."

DST gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring..

i honestly didn't realize it was daylight savings time till i went outside yesterday. i was going to a group meetup that was at 4, walked around and didn't find anyone so i decided to go back to my car. when i check my phone(which happens to also be my watch) i notice it says 3 o clock instead of the car and my computer which said 4 o clock.[sm=ofcourse.gif] great way of figuring things out. honestly though i loved this switchback, now i'm more awake during the day and the mornings are warmer(at least down here in texas).

Except for the fact that I feel like I should be on my way home from work now..........I don't care to be honest.

I hate it.  It screws up my littlest one's sleep.  So now instead of six, she woke me at five.  Ugh.

I am from Indiana, and we just started it this year, and I hate it.  It's very annoying, and the county next to ours is different, so if you go there you always have to think about that part.  I can see why it was done in the first place, but now I don't see much reason for it.  I can't see that my family of farmers benefited at all, afterall, it only started this year and my family has farmed for almost two hundred years.  We have a Gov. that just had to push it through, just one of the many reasons I didn't vote for him, and wish no one else had either.

Same here ... I spent 4 years in IL and it always messed with me.  I was so glad to be back in IN where people were sane and didn't try to cheat themselves in terms of daylight.  And every time someone says "but you get an extra hour of daylight" ... I ask them which law of physics they've managed to break to bring that about.

Maybe that's why I don't have a dom.

KenDckey -> RE: Daylight Savings Time (10/30/2006 3:46:51 PM)

I hate daylight savings time.    Thank god we don't have it here.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Daylight Savings Time (10/30/2006 8:30:37 PM)

I thought we decided the official term was going to be "evil motherfucker."

Oh, but there is nothing little about him.

How a thread about daylight savings morphed into the size of LaM is beyond me.
