Status: offline 		Just finished "Black Like Me" Awesome book and i think a must read for us living in amercia to understand racism here. a great book writen by a great man. :) This was a must read for me in Ethical sociology, but glad it was...i probably never would have read it otherwise.

To answer my own question, I just read "Fun Home" which is a graphic novel by Alison Bechdel. She is a lesbian, and the book is about her childhood and her realization that her dad was probably gay as well.

Then I read "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro (He wrote "Remains of the Day") It's slightly science fiction-y with a plot twist.

I'd recommend both of these books because they both are unusual and creative and yet engrossing to read.

Hrm, last good books I read were, and while I remember the titles, the authors names sometime escapes me.

The Bad Popes
Collapse - Jarod Diamond
Guns, Germs, and Steel - Jarod Diamond
The six books in the Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy trilogy. - Douglas Adams
Chaos and Complexity
Order At The Edge Of Chaos
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
The Best Democracy Money Can Buy
The title escapes me, but one about US/Isreali involvement since 1960.

Would have to go see what I was reading last month.  I recommend all of these books, although for different reasons.  The Bad Popes was simply a hilarious look at the tumultuous times in 14th Century Catholicism.  So many things wrong with that church at that time.

I'm about three chapters into Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Foer.
So far so good.

Status: offline 		i've read five of diana gabaldon's books (all were excellent)  and can't wait to get my hands on A Breath of Snow and Ashes.  thank you lauren0221 for letting me know it exists.  i also read anything by david baldacci, piers anthony, and dean koontz.  the xanth novels are extremely fun reading.

Status: offline 		I am currently reading "Liseys Story" by Stephen King. So far it is pretty good. After his accident his writing suffered some I think. This one seems to be good reading so far.

Peter F. Hamilton:
The Night's Dawn Trilogy

Pretty heavy reading (3 books, 1200 pages each, tiny font), but definitely worthwhile. Beautifully written space opera.

Micheal Foucault:
Madness and Civilisation

An excellent insight into the role we have assigned  the 'insane' throughout the ages.

I'm now rereading Marx's Das Kapital and for light relief Mari Akasaka's Vibrator.

Wow....That's an old book! Dick Gregory wasn't it...???? Read that a looooong time ago....pretty good read!
