STEELERS!

Once they get their act together. They have the team to go all the way.

Jets sure did look good.....even if they gave me a heart attack in the way they went about it.....lol.Sanchez had a nice night,as long as he learned something about holding onto the ball too long and too low.Romo is the gift that keeps on giving,if you are a New Yorker....lol.
Best game of the weekend

I agree. Who needs defibrillators when the Jets are playing? Best play of the night was the blocked punt/TD.

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 5:20:51 PM)

Have I mentioned what a wonderful September I am having watching the Red Sox sputter their way to a third place finish.Rooting for the Rays to unseat Boston as the wild card team is so much damm fun.( I know ,I know...it's a football thread,but we don't have one of these for Americas game.or do we ?)

tolovetolaugh -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 5:35:07 PM)

That's cause violent football > non violent baseball

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 5:39:30 PM)

Not for those who appreciate the beauty of a game where everything happens in front of you...and nothing is missed...unlike football where at the snap of the ball 22 oversized men crash into each other in a violent explosion.Don't get me wrong I love football...but the pace of baseball allows one to see and appreciate every little nuance of what is going on.
A thinking mans game [:)]

Aileen1968 -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 5:49:47 PM)

We'll be cheering the Yanks on on the 24th as they spank the Red Sox's asses. Live from The Bronx!

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 5:58:58 PM)

It would make me happier if the game was,as far as the Yanks are concerned,irrelevant.We can set up our pitching for the postseason,give our veterans a day,day and a half off.....while the Red Sox,Texas,Los Angelas and Tampa all scratch,fight and expend resources trying to tie up their relative playoff position.
Looks like Detroit and the Yanks are the only AL teams that will have a soft last week or so.

DarkSteven -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 6:23:40 PM)

Well, the Broncos evidently played the Raiders Monday night.  The only reason I know the Broncos were there was that it was played at Mile High Stadium.

They got stomped.  The whole game.  At home.  By one of the weakest teams in the NFL.

It's gonna be a looooong season.  Again.

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 6:27:04 PM)

Not sure the Raiders ....as one of "the weakest teams in the NFL" is going to hold up as the year goes on .Besides didn't they go undefeated in their division last year?
He'll if San Doego stumbles the Raiders might justmwin out there....albeit with something like a 9 and 7 record....lol.

Endivius -> RE: predictions (9/15/2011 8:03:23 PM)

Expect SD to do better this year, rivers is healthy, and they had the best offense and defense in the league last year overall. The raiders are coming together as a team finally, but that's largely due to playing together for so long. Shame they can't seem to hang on to a head coach out in Oakland, if they would win more games the fans might actually sell out a game so they can see a home game televised. They were blacked out all of last season except for road games. The broncos have the potential for a great team, they just need to sit orton by week six if he doesn't improve. If they try to keep him starting for more than six games expect them to finish below .500 (unless he improves). Romo is an over rated qb. He has great ability and potential, but does not learn from his mistakes, and continuously folds under pressure, I suspect Dallas is in for another disapointing season. Sanchez and the jets skated away on the strength of that Special Teams PB, if not for that score they lose to Dallas, wich is sad considering the offensive and defensive weapons at thier disposal; this matchup should not have been as close as it was. The offensive line for the jets needs to focus and not make as many mistakes. All in all it's only week 1 so there is plenty of time to improve. However, if these teams are still making the same mistakes by week 6 most of them will be lucky to win a wild card.

You left out the other benefit of the "pace" of baseball: it allows one to drift off into peaceful sleep without needing medication.

Not sure this is the place to argue the beauty of America's game...or whether or not you have the attention span required for such a discussion,your posts seem to indicate you do not ....so I will let your idiocy go unchallenged [8|]

tolovetolaugh -> RE: predictions (9/16/2011 8:07:03 AM)

Soooo what happened to Thursday night games?
It caught me by surprise last night that there wasn't one, and when I looked it up it shows no Thursday games til week 10.

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/16/2011 8:25:04 AM)

There was a game last night.The Red Sox continued their slide unabated,losing once again to the Rays and further endangering their playoff chances.The wild card race heats up.....lol.

tolovetolaugh -> RE: predictions (9/16/2011 9:25:23 AM)

Not a football game. :(

I prefer minor league baseball.

95% of the talent, 0% of the attitude.

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/16/2011 11:08:58 AM)

Really...95% of the talent?
So you too can be entered into the ledger as someone who knows jack shit about baseball.The talent jump between triple a and the majors is estimated,by most knowledgable folks,as about the biggest jump in major sports.Most agree it puts to shame the leap of college to pros in football

Mike, I had 2 guys living in the house this summer that will prob be playing in the majors within 3 years.

The talent is there. Just needs a bit of fine tuning.

slvemike4u -> RE: predictions (9/16/2011 1:32:27 PM)

Good luck to them,and I mean that...but if they are three years away they better be in Baseball America's list of top 100 prospects....otherwise there is no probably about it.
Do a little research....look into the amount of players currently playing at some level minor league ball,add up all of those players at all of those levels....than consider there are 800 major league jobs.
The hardest thing to do in major sports is to hit a major league pitcher.or as it has been so succincty put....hitting a round ball with a round bat.....squarely.
Throw in the deception in an off speed pitch,the break in a curve, the cut in a cutter....the nano second within which you get to differentiate from those pitches......good luck to your friends.
