Lombardi, surely?

Or are the Italians sponsoring it these days?

LAM:

BB is not the type who is going to go out there, fall on his laurels and do a Mea Culpa.
Not because he's arrogant, but because his philosophy is " team " which includes coaches, management and players. He believes you win as a team and you lose as a team, not on the back of an individual. Having said that, in the same link you provide he said it was bad coaching as well:

"BB: No. I just think we didn't play well or coach well. We didn't do anything well enough. We gave up too many points, didn't score enough, didn't have good field position. We just didn't do a good job."

The last line of the interview, when asked how he thought Sanchez did, what did he say ? "They all did a good job". That's pretty much keeping with his philosophy.

Your coach has a different philosophy. Nothing wrong with that. WHat I can't figure out is why you would expect BB to change his entire philosophy cuz he lost to the Jets ? Perhaps it's cuz he didn't " dis " Rex and went over and shook his hand and said something personal to him. I guess if you can't slam him for a weak handshake, you will criticize him for his words, which are consistant with his entire tenure here in NE. Perhaps it's homerism.
In any case, I certainly wouldn't be whining about what Rex said at his presser, had we won. I would be savoring my win and looking forward to next week.

And BTW... can you name me another coach in this years play offs... or this year reg. season who took sole blame for a loss ? Rex did. Marvelous !
Most don't.

And one last thing.... the rumor here in NE is that when BB hugged Rex and said something to him: that it was an apology for Welker's feet comments. If that turns out to be a accurate rumor, I walk away from that loss feeling pretty good, that my Coach took the high road, puts an emphasis on good sportsmanship and is man enough to say when one of his staff does something wrong. Something your coach is incapable of doing. Viva la difference !

Packers actually, and stop calling coach Lombardi "Shirley". ;)

If it is the Packers / Jets, I'll take Aaron Rodgers and the boys. We have to get by da Bears first though.

And admittedly, that won't be a walk in the park, but did you see today's line? Packers by 3! A #2 seed, playing at home against the #6 seed, and they're 3-point dogs? I've never seen that before.

If Green Bay doesn't give up any big plays on special teams, doesn't turn the ball over, and just catches 1 or 2 of the 4 or 5 interceptions Cutler's going to try to throw them, there's no way they lose. I think we're going to the Super Bowl, buddy.

I don't blame 'em, I would be too.

But fuck 'em. Green Bay is the best team left in the playoffs, period. Aaron Rodgers has just finished racking up the best first 3 playoff games of any quarterback in the history of the NFL - no player in the history of the league has posted better numbers in their first 3 playoff games than Rodgers; no Manning, no Montana, no Brady, no Roethlisberger, no Warner, no nobody. Rodgers is averaging 25 for 35 and 323 yards per game in the postseason, with a passer rating of over 130 and a completion percentage of 71%, and Cutler... well, Cutler went 15 for 28 against the 7-9 Seahawks. The Bears can whine until the cows come home about not getting any respect, but they're getting all the respect they deserve.

I think the Steelers are going to have a far tougher time at home with the Jets than the Packers will face from the Bears in Chicago.

Is there anyone here who thinks Chicago will be packing for Dallas after next weekend? I sure don't.

I thought the Pack would have a tough time with the Falcons. Now I have a knot in my stomach and it's only Monday. It will be a long week.

I'm not whining about what Belichick said.  I'm responding, actually, to your comment that you don't have to point out how great the Jets were, because they'll do it themselves.  And that sounded like the pot calling the kettle black, because all the Patriots ever do (when they win) is tell us their opinion of their genius coach.  So guys, you can kinda give it a rest now.

Ahh... well color me confused. Sorry for the confusion.

I did say in my initial post-loss post that the Jets manhandled us. I think that's admitting the Jets were pretty damn good. The post you are referring to, was typical NE sarcasm, a form of humor the rest of the country doesn't appreciate. It's an art form up here.

Again.. color me confused... when you say " the Patriots " tell "us" how great their coach is, does that mean the players or the fans ?

The Falcons were over rated. They were a 10-6 team that lucked into a 13-3 season record.

The players! Now yesterday they were all reminding us, in their exit interviews, that they've beaten every remaining team. Since more than one of them said it, it's obviously something they got from their coach. Well, yeah, they've beaten every remaining team, but (A) they beat the Packers without Aaron Rodgers, so you can throw that one out right away, and (B) they beat the Jets but lost two other times to them, pretty convincingly too I might add. So it's just more classless shit from the Hatriots. Why does everyone (outside of New England) love to see the Patriots lose? It's not because they're good. The Steelers are good and no one hates the Steelers.

I am now a Jets fan. haha. I love the swagger. I hope they can back it up this coming game. They are fun to watch. And maybe a bit of foot fetish movies from the coach and his wife! woo hooo!

I haven't heard the exit interviews. I can't take your word for the content, since you completely re invented BB's post game interview saying all he did was blame players. Which, of course, he did not. So I will read them myself.

But thank you for the " Jets* perspective ". It's always enlightening.

How's Sal Alosi doing these days ? How about Westhoff ? Is he making any false allegations against any one lately ? Pure class straight outta NY.

And yeah, we are going to have to throw the GB win out the window. The league is changing it to a loss, since we really didn't beat them. I think they did the same thing for any team who won against to the Pat's when Cassell had to take over for Brady. Ditto for Steeler's this year when Ben was on the bench, Dallas, after Romo went down and every other team who has ever lost the QB and had to play the back up. You got me wondering now. How does that work for the Redskins. Does it still count if the starting QB is pulled and they replace him with a back up ? Do those wins get tossed out the window too ? What about when a team rests their starters for the PO's ? Are those games nullified too ?

I think you're onto something, LAM. Any game that a starter is injured in, or can't play in, should not count towards their W/L ratio. Let's call Polian and get him to do some rule changing, that's the ticket.
