As much as I like Josh McD and wanted to see him do well,  I never got why teams wanted him for a HC. He was/is too young, inexperienced and untested. I don't think he has developed his own identity. On second thought: maybe he did over the last two years in Denver.

He did a lot of damage in Denver and like I said a few posts back, showed a disappointing lack of character in regards to the videotaping incident. I have no doubt that with the right coaching team, good draft picks and a few FA things will start to turn around for the Broncos.

Sanchez discussion.  There is some theory, backed up with some proof, that Sanchez excels in warm and mild weather and is a disaster in cold weather.  His mechanics and hesitation hurting his delivery.  Suggestion is for him to go out on the field, in the bad weather and throw until his is comfortable in cold weather.  It is a fixable issue.  The ball is heavier and harder and he needs to find his comfort zone.

The Jets staff person is suspended without pay for the remainder of the season.

I'm going to be a real Patriots " homer" here and feel free to fire away at me.

It absolutely pisses me off that in the last month we have had two teams exposed as " cheater, cheater, pumpkin eaters "  and it has been prerry much swept aside.  Yeah, the Broncos and McDaniels got fined, but the media placed the blame squarely on the " Belichick tree " and more was written and revisited about my own Spygate than Spygate 2. I couldn't find one article that didn't have more info on BB's videoing that the Broncos. The Broncos cheater cheater pumkin eater tricks were an intersting side note, nothing more.

Now we have that idiot on the Jets. And Aiello from the NFL says... because the guy admitted and apologized for it and the Jets suspended and fined him the NFL will take no action.

REALLY ????  BB apologized and admitted it, Why wasn't his apology and admission enough for the commish ? Why didn't Goodell let the Patriots take care of that Black Day in the NFL ? Seems he has no issue letting the Jets handle their cheaters without his interference.

Don't get me wrong.. Spygate was an embarassment. BB deserved the punishment he got. My issue isn't with what happened to us, but the glaring absence of  " cheater, cheater pumpkin eater " to those who are guilty of breaking the rules.

As for Sal Alosi of the Jets.  His actions are inexcusable.. but let's put this in perpective. We have Michael Vick, who ran an illegal business and tortured and killed numerous animals, and he is the darling of the NFL right now. We have Stallworth, who killed a person while DUI, he's out there playing football and getting a paycheck. We have Ray Lewis who was involved in murdering some one and he is a well loved, well respected  and was awarded the NFLs Defensive Player of the Year in 2003, 3 years after his involvement in a murder. So, imo, that cheating  fool Alosi tripping a guy is small potatoes compared to what the league has not only forgiven, but welcomed back with open arms.

I will take BB's taping defensive signals over Alosi, Vick, Stallworth, Lewis and  quite a few others anyday.

Damn loser Texans.  sheesh.

The tripper apologized, profusely, seemingly showed remorse and made no excuses.  He was also fined.  He was dumb.  There is a lot of that in the NFL.  I agree with mbmbn, there are far worse in the game, and beloved at that (although I will never figure that out cough Ray Lewis cough).  About Vick, I hope it is for real and I hope it sticks.  They say he is now a committed student of the game, perhaps it is true redemption.  At any rate, he paid for his crime and he will be paying $$ for years to come, he still owes a lot from the bankruptcy agreement.

Un- flipping- believable !!!

Michael Vick is campaigning to get a dog. I am with the writer of this blog, s/he expresses my veiw perfectly.

“I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process. I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love, and my passion for animals,” he said.

Aren't you the one who was trashing James Harrison for whining and is this not essentially the same thing you are doing here?

Is the  post below the one you are talking about, DI ? I guess you could read it that I indirectly called Harrison a whiner, but I directly said I thought he was sophmoric.

Anyway... yes the post you just quoted was a rant, whine, bitchfest or whatever name you want to give it. I'm was pretty much over it after I wrote it. I said feel free to fire away at me, so  I take it all in stride.

Let me ask you this: Do you know of any other instance that Goodell, a former Jets employee, let a team handle the discipline for violating league rules and said " we're staying out of this " ? Not just once, but again today. And again, the Commish's office said we are not dealing with it, the Jets can take care of it themselves ? And that's not my Patriots love speaking, he's handed out plenty of disciplanary actions.

ETA : I don't see me as trashing Harrison. I gave an opinion on his calling for harsher punishment. I said he was a dirty player, I also said  R.Harrison was a dirty player. They are/were. I loved Rodney, I'm sure Steelers fans love James.

Did Big Ben confuse Seymour with a college coed then try and whisper sweet nothings in his ear?

Seymour got a 25K fine, no suspension, for the punch. Probably a fair punishment.

I read that James Harrison was calling for harsher punishment on Seymour than he got for his helmet to helmet. Ya know, we < pats > had Rodney Harrison and he was voted the dirtiest player in the NFL repeatedly, for years. James Harrison is a dirty player too. I give Rodney props for not whining about other dirty moves/players and taking his punishments like a man.
|James Harrison calling out some one else just seems a bit sophmoric. If Ben had spoken out I would have understood it, but Harrison just made an ass of himself, IMO.

I listened to  Coach Tomlin's comments on the Seymour hit and I have to wonder..... was he just being his usual classy self < no sarcasm > or......... is he looking forward to next year. I believe Seymour will become a FA and I think he would fit the Steeler's quite well, and he's still got alot in the tank. Soooooo I am wondering if Tomlin/Steeler's have thoughts on acquiring Seymour. Guess I will find out in the post season.

I love Coach Tomlin and his pressers.

James Harrison, I have to believe, was doing a lot of talking out of frustration.  It does seem that the Steelers are being singled out.  Has anyone noticed how often Harrison is held and no one ever called for it?  Seriously.  But I can't stand it when the players whine, it annoys me.  I prefer the "we make no excuses" "my bad" "it's part of the game" sort of thing to the calling out other players, I think it is unprofessional, at the least.

The Jets are now in trouble and it looks like the tripper is the fall guy.  Steelers have 'em this weekend.  If I had the strength I would look it up, but Steelers have to be close to clinching something if they beat the Jets.

Heart attack!  No, gas, just gas.

According to Steve Young, the Jets need to empower (or gamble) that Sanchez can win them games and make plays in Qts 1-2. Telling Sanchez to manage the game in Qts 1-3 and then asking him to make come from behind heroics in Qtr 4 is a doomed formula going into the playoffs.

I don't see the JETS as a come from behind team v. PITT, NE, IND, or other playoff squads -- although that formula has worked v. lesser teams.

Bill Cowher went aggressive v. the Colts in the AFC championship game, making the Steelers into a pass first offense to keep the Colts from getting ahead, and PITT won that dramatic game when Roethelsberger was in his first NFL season.

Looking at the Jets Record they are:

2-4 v. winning teams and;

7-0 v. losing teams

In four games this season they've been held to under ten points, and GB actually shut them out.

----

NFL wide, only the Patriots have improved as the season has progressed. ATL has continually held serve and played strong. Everyone else looks like a week-to-week adventure.

Jets 0-11 in PA, 0-7 @ Pittsburgh.  (watching NFL Countdown).  Some little kid just stole a scene from Coach Ditka.

Im convinced: Colt McCoy is a franchise QB. 19/25, 243 yards, 2 td's, no int's, and a rating of 132. Consider the receivers the Browns have (or dont have, really). We can build an offense around this kid, no question about it in my mind.

Dallas did it. Witten (who I used to watch play HS ball from My porch) 10 catches, 140 yds and a TD. Not bad for a Tight End.

Make that 3-4 against winning teams.  It's pretty straightforward: when Sanchez plays a clean game, they're Super Bowl contenders; when he turns the ball over, they suck.  Yeah, the Steelers could have used Polamalu today.  But they didn't look like the better team.

For that matter, the Patriots came back to earth today too.  I still think they have the best shot at a SB because of Brady, but their defense seemed pretty suspect against a second-string quarterback.
