Brutal weather in Chicago today. Should be a good game, neither team is a stranger to playing in the elements. I heard the winds are around 34mph with gusts. The kicking game should be interesting.

Today is the 28th year anniversary of the " snow plow game " for those you you old enough to remember it.

You might think from the final score they were actually playing in the blizzard

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 1:19:45 PM)

Steelers and Bengals in a fight at the end of the game.  Much hate.  Soldier Field, players sliding around all over the place.

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 2:37:52 PM)

I think the Bears are doomed.  Martz has done an amazing job of putting together an offense with what the Bears have, but the only real talent he has is Cutler.  He is not going to be able to throw well in that weather and the Bear's offensive line is not good enough when the defense is lined up to stop the run.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 2:42:00 PM)

Oh, that game is ugly, I think most of us saw that coming.  Especially those of us who understand that the AFC will go through the Pats.

I will not be surprised if Tom Brady gets league MVP this season.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 2:48:59 PM)

Amazing game so far. I didn't expect either team to be dominant, given the weather conditions. There's still a half to play, so it ain't over yet.
Hats off to the Chicago fans out in that weather. Those are my favorite games to attend, frigid cold, snowing like crazy. It just feels so  football - ish.

I missed the Pitt/Cinn brawl.  Saw the end of the game then posted something here and when I went back tothe TV the brawl had stopped.

Did you see LeBeau scolding Troy, then hugging him later?  It was precious.

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 3:00:23 PM)

I think it would probably be a better game if the weather wasn't so awful.

Martz has done one of his best coaching efforts ever in covering the Bears problems.  But cutler is a thrower and they don't have enough talent in the receivers to go and get whatever ball may show up in this weather.   If they can't get those passes out, they can't run without the room.

The Bears are much like the Cowboys if they don't do something with that offensive line nothing else is gonna matter.

Congrats to the Patriots who have clinched a playoff spot.

[:D] Thanx, Katy.

And our record of being undefeated in games played in the snow < under BB > remains intact.  It's not even a stat, but Pats fans take great pride in that.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 5:50:24 PM)

Congratulations to the Broncos, who should have clinched a top five draft pick after today.

Hugs DS.  I don't have any pearls of wisdom. I know the feeling of having your best hope for the season being getting atop of the draft pick teams. It sucks.

What is wrong with Rex Ryan ? I read that he told reporters in his presser that he had considered benching Sanchez in the 3rd qtr . I'm no Jets fan that's for sure, but cmon. The kid is obviously rattled and he's sucking wind right now, his confidence has to be in the toilet... so the HC goes out and embarasses him further  by publically dissing him ? I'm sure that will REALLY help Sanchez's confidence heading into the Steeler's game. [&:]

Some things you keep in house, Rex.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 6:19:02 PM)

You are correct, that is bad form.  What is Rex's problem?  General frustration?  Jets are unraveling.

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 8:14:39 PM)

The Jets have shown all of the class one would expect from a team with a Ryan as head coach.

If that pin head on the sideline isn't fired I'll have no respect for the Jets at all.  That was a completely classless act to trip the guy running down field on the punt.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 8:51:58 PM)

Looks to me like they have clinched a SB victory. I was amazed at how easily Tom Brady was completing passes during the first half white out. All the QB commentators, Steve Young, Boomer E., and Ron Jaworski are in all at how he's been playing the past six (6) games.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/12/2010 8:56:02 PM)

Rex Ryan saw the effect of Kyle Boller on the Ravens for four (4) years, and although Sanchez is better than Boller --- the passing game looks like the NYJ weak link. I saw a little bit of the game, and two JETS receivers dropped crucial balls and Sanchez missed Dustin Keller on a key third down play. In a defensive game of inches, those plays made the difference, paving the way to a loss instead of a win.

Meanwhile, Polamalu again made the game changing play for PITT, a play that sent CIN reeling. Does anyone have an explanation for Carson Palmer's play?

BAL's local station switched out of the NE-CHI game after halftime when the score was already 33-0.

Maurice Jone Drew is still on a hot streak, Jason Campbell looks better than Donovan McNabb, and WAS is continuing its hapless ways.

Well, the hug certainly didn't hurt.  [:)]

McDaniels' gone, and now the team can rebuild.  Although of course it pisses me off to see Cutler playing championship caliber level, and realize that McDaniels ran him off.

It'll take a couple of years to fix his mess, though.

I'm not critical of him  considering benching Sanchez. I'm sure any coach would have been thinking about it. My criticism is of him airing it out to the press, He could have taken a page out of BB or3/4 of the coahces in the league and said something like : " my decision was to keep him in the game. ". And leave it at that.  Instead he cranked up the bus and put it in reverse.

I see no positives coming from a coach  criticizing his team or players publically. That belongs in the locker room, imo.
