Both.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2010 6:46:12 PM)

Many analysts are touting the Cowboys as the most complete team left in the playoffs and also the most dangerous.  Evidently they are for real.

Jeffff -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2010 6:48:22 PM)

Cowboys go down in the next round!..... you heard it here first!

I am so empty.  Any team left has my permission to win except for them fuckin' Cowboys.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2010 6:49:55 PM)

I have no dog left in this fight, other than wanting The Ravens to be gone.

Cowboys or Bret Favre....who does the Universe hate more?

This is the question the trys a  Man's soul

Kurt Warner carved you up like a practice squad. Its hard to believe GB's defense was so highly rated.

Tomorrow's games:

Ravens vs Patriots

Packers vs Cardinals

I'm picking Baltimore and Green Bay (who?) to win.

You got BAL right.

SD v NYJ and BAL v. IND promise two clear cut showdowns between running and passing teams. Maybe its premature to bury the running teams six feet under ground.

The NFL lives by the air.  I think the running it down their throats days are gone, it's the NFL of the old.  It really seems to be an aerial game.  Thoughts?

We've got 2 starting defensive backs, plus our top backup DB, out for the season. And last year's top pass rusher, Aaron Kampman. We were actually signing free agent DBs off the street halfway through the season. The #6 guy on the depth chart is starting, and I counted at least 3 touchdowns scored on him yesterday. Maybe more; I just couldn't keep track. Offenses have been trying to exploit that vulnerability all season, but only the Vikings and the Steelers have done it with any degree of success. And neither of them came close to what Arizona accomplished. What the Cards did yesterday was not only expose that mismatch, but drive a freakin' truck through it.

Dom Capers has done an extraordinary job of using schemes to mask the weaknesses in our pass defense, but that's only going to get you so far against a Favre, a Warner, or a Roethlisberger. Guys like that are going to find the mismatches and exploit them, especially when they've got a halfways-decent offensive coordinator to give them some plays to work with. There's only so much Capers can do with schemes - at some point, you have to have the personnel, and with 3 DBs out on the IR, not to mention only one decent pass rusher, we simply don't. I give Capers tons of credit for building such a terrific defense around such a glaring weakness, but it was doomed to come to an end the minute we ran into a playoff team with the personnel to exploit the mismatches.

All this Cowboys hatin' is wonderful; it means others are terrified.

I would not say the days of running the ball are over, Katy; that was believed before, and proved wrong. I just hope Adrian Peterson doesn't prove me right lol.

And they came back until the cardinals' trade-mark dirty play won them the game.

Felix Jones, Tashard Choice and Marion Barber say "hi."

Apparently you missed how at least once in each of the last two games, Felix Jones has hit a hole and run 30-50 yards for a touchdown. In the most recent game, the moment he hit the hole, the announcer said "Felix Jones, off to the races!"

What happened was they had the misfortune of playing the dirtiest players in the game -- the cardinals. In one quarter I witnessed two grievious un-called penalties. And several sources have pictures on their main pages of the blatant face mask penalty that was ignored during the 'interception' in OT that cost them the game.

Link.

It may work for Dome teams and warm weather teams in good conditions, but in the cold of CIN and NE, throwing the ball was little more than a recipe for turnovers and sacks.

Its no coincidence that Farve has had a banner year while playing in a dome, but if the running teams can control the TOP, strike on play action passes, and win the turnover battle -- they can effectively shoot the ball out of the air. This is hard to do with the officials making ticky tack contact, interference, and roughing the passer penalties. The rules essentially neuter teams from deciding the contest on a man-to-man, playmaking basis.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/12/2010 6:55:54 AM)

Injuries in the secondary are an unmitigated disaster in the NFL. That helps explain GB's performance on defense.

Yeah, I was screaming at the "officials" the entire game.  Not so much dirty players, as refs with 'late christmas bonuses' I'm thinking.
