I heard that; he was having a great year, too. He's one of the more underrated players in the NFL. At least your guys won the game. [8|]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 4:27:56 AM)

Isn't he one of the leading rushers this season?  Someone go get the rushing stats prior to the start of last night's game (tia).   If someone can step up it will be possibly okay.  But I think it's pretty signficant for the team.

Mike Tomlin, press conference post-Rams game, regarding Willie Parker:
quote:

"My heart goes out to him," Tomlin said. "But we're not throwing a pity party. We'll adapt and improve."

I think I love Mike Tomlin

what a difference a year can make!  last year, Chicago was in a Super Bowl Shuffle redux ...now we're screaming, "END THE SEASON NOW"

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 6:09:32 AM)

Oh, you have some offensive issues there that require some sorting out.  But you do have Devin Hester....what a beast.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 6:25:23 AM)

that's ALL we have beside Urlacher and few other defensivemen ...offense wise - we totally suck.

we might as well hand the Packers the win on Sunday

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 6:37:53 AM)

I will agree you suck on offensive.  I was on the Rex bandwagon for a long time, thinking that something would click and he would be great.  I'm no longer a believer.  And I thought that Kyle Orton looked scared, but then if you rarely play, I think the force and speed of the NFL would be scary.  You need a qb and some help on offense.  I'm thinking get a qb in the next draft and someone who is capable of guiding him the first year, don't play him, let him learn.  Build up the line next year.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 7:28:13 AM)

Okay read it and weep.  Willie Parker was the leading rusher heading into last night's game.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Broncos kicker Jason Elam can handle pressure-packed field goals without even a hint of nerves.
Composing himself to read the review of his first novel was a different story. Elam was jittery and tense.

"I put on a thick skin thinking people would rip it apart," Elam said with a laugh.

But the 37-year-old kicker's first foray into the world of literary fiction has drawn positive reviews. Elam and Denver pastor Steve Yohn's first novel, "Monday Night Jihad," hit bookstores last week. The suspense thriller combines football, religion and a spy adventure in which the hero tries to thwart a terrorist plot.

So far, the reviews have been glowing:

In the Atlanta Falcons' attempt to rebuild their football operations, they apparently are considering becoming a sort of Chargers Southeast.'

League sources said yesterday the Falcons have made overtures to former Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer about being their next head coach and are considering hiring Chargers Assistant General Manager Buddy Nix to be their general manager.

So now on top of everything else that has made this the ultimate season from hell, we have this shocking indignity. The always reserved, completely laid back, 24-7 politically correct superstar wide receiver is caught on camera in a very public, nationally televised, expletive-filled, up-close-and-personal tirade against the embattled head coach that might even make Terrell Owens blush.

Torry Holt never lets you see him sweat. Holt never lets you inside his closely guarded emotional shell. He never drops his guard when the cameras are rolling or quietly whispers his displeasure in strategic off-the-record asides when the lights are dimmed. But on Thursday night with the Rams in the final moments of a 41-24 flameout against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers, Holt blew his top and lost his cool , and the NFL Network cameras caught him unleashing a vulgar tirade against Scott Linehan.

I don't know where she is [8|]

Marty is a terrific coach. However, I don't think Atlanta should have ever shit-canned Mora; be patient, for crying out loud, Falcons.

kittiekatt -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/21/2007 6:48:04 PM)

Katy, yeah he was leading rusher, had 1300 yards, ahead of Tomlinson.

And the Dolphins aren't as bad as people say they are. Lost 7 games by 3 or less. Falcons are worse.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that TO left the game with a leg/ankle injury.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/23/2007 4:17:47 AM)

Actually, he wasn't so bad when he had a chance to play.  I think he has a much higher ceiling than Kyle Orton.  QB's who come right in and start producing are really pretty rare, and it's what people have started to expect.  Even Romo bounced around for a while before getting his shot with the Cowboys.  So I think Grossman deserves another year.  It's not like they have Sid Luckman on that bench.

Edited to add: Oh, and it was noticeable how the Cowboys sputtered in the second half without TO.  I think they might be in trouble in the playoffs.  Fortunately they have a few weeks to straighten everything out.

Dammit.  Don't make me think about liking good Rex again.    [;)]

No kiddin here....I was looking forward to the chance of getting Glenn back to pull away the doubles and stretch the field nd now TO is down...The defense only had three guys that weren't limping at the games end and I still think that Barber should be the only back in play.

I wonder if Parcels trades that number one pick of the Dolphins for the Boys two number ones? McFadden?

I hope not, Bull. I'd rather get two good players than one.

Boise State University is off to a great start in Hawaii in the Aloha Bowl, vs. Eastern Carolina (on ESPN).

I didn't even know there WAS an East Carolina?
