LadyEllen, lol.   you know, i don't see a lot of switch whining, but they sure could!   i know i regularly leave sw-types out of the equation when i'm opining on things like this.  i don't mean to be rude, i just figure they fit under either hat?  That's kind of a rude assumption on my part.  Maybe if i spent more time in the ask a switch board, i'd be more informed, but hell, i'm still trying to nail down the sub vs slave issue.

If it is true, it's probably because subs outnumber doms.

Iskander -> RE: da whining of da subs vs. da whining of da dominants (10/16/2006 11:01:12 AM)

Okay, I will be happy to be the token whiner and dommewannabe cuz I am whining.

I am trying to be all cool by starting my X-mas shopping early thereby avoiding the need for the use of the credit cards I wish to pay off. I am also one of those people that feel the need to find the most perfect and unique gift for everyone. Soooo, I often go to antique stores to shop for several that I buy for. Today over lunch I drove over to one of my favourite antique consignment shops and wandered around for an hour. I found nothing that really inspired me for others........BUT WAY TOO MUCH that inspired me to buy for myself!! I hate that, hate hate HATE IT!!! Noooooo, I did not actually buy anything. I controlled myself. But still, the art nouveau mirror, art deco necklace, several beautiful lamps, a cherry rocking chair, a 40's dresser with the nifty round mirror that was ON SALE for $65!!! They are all calling me, come LeeAnn, buy me, take me home. I hate shopping!

I don't see the Lifestyle to be different from vanilla in this aspect.  There is a certain percentage of the people that are going to be wankers, assholes, whiners, losers, cowards, etc.

There will also be a certain percentage that are respectful, truthful, honorable, mature, etc.

I've gotten emails from a few people and basically the responses have been mixed:
  • When am I moving to Washington State?  (first email from Domme)
  • How would I like to be made to squirm like the pig that I am?  (also an initial email)

I have also gotten emails from a Domme who is a really wonderful person and even though we aren't compatible (I'm so new I really don't know what I want or where I fit in) she has been as classy as they come.

I've gotten some compliments on some of my posts (I guess I have my moments) and I've gotten some good advice on some of my questions.

Basically, if a person is of high quality, it will come shining through without having to dig too deep.  If it is someone who appears to be lacking in your judgement; move on and don't waste anymore of your precious time.

I mean just think about it. Is it that because someone is submissive they believe they're more entitled to whine than the dominants or is it just that they become submissive 'cause they're attention freaks? or or or?
Is it just me or is the number of subs/slaves whining about those things increasing like 220% a day?

I think people come in with a legitiment beef and if they are submissive it's called a whine, if they are dominant it's called a bitch or a complaint. Usually someone is complaining because they are frustrated and need to vent and are, indeed, hoping for a bit of sympathy and compassion.

The internet isn't the best place to look for sympathy and compassion though. And that's made pretty clear as soon as someone steps out of adult mode to go cry in the sand box.

A respondant to a 'whine' has the choice in how they respond. They can egg on the whiner and feed into the childishness of it, or they can offer an adult, constructive critisim and then step away. It depends on which level one chooses to operate.

This started off being sort of funny, but then it degenerated into a bunch of whining about whiny subs....so I figured I'd whine about that!!

dadada.. ok I have a question, why does it seem that so many subs/slaves whine because they can't find a dominant but you can barely ever bump into a dominant whine about that they can't find a real sub/slave. (or well that's my experience..)

Subs whine.  Doms bitch.  I've only been here a day or two, and I've already seen plenty of  both.  In general, though, doms bitch about this issue a little differently, and end to couch things in terms which are less likely to make them appear inadequate or vulnerable.  They do not want to convey weakness/pathos to other doms and potential subs.  It lacks the dominant mystique, dontcha know.

That being said, I've been here for like 72 hours already and I still don't have a boy at my feet with my collar around his neck, a rose between his teeth and a tea tray resting on his palms!  O why o why can I not find a sub o why?  *eyerolly*

I am with 'toservez' in this... it seems that there is an equal amount of dominants who are whining about "not real" submissives, ones that will not "cross over" to [the dark side] real life, ones that disappear.... etc.

LadyHugs -> RE: da whining of da subs vs. da whining of da dominants (10/16/2006 4:37:45 PM)

Dear MissyRane, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Dear lady, I have unfortunately witnessed a few female dominants that have whined so, as to be mistaken for a child of 2 or 3.  With temper tantrums, throwing things and having tirades-- If it wasn't so horrific to witness, as they identified as dominants; it would be most funny and laughable.  I could see it as sarcastic humor if it was in a skit or play but, I've seen a few grown women behave terrible.

I also have seen male dominants, throw things, punch the wall with their fist, have tirades and temper tantrums as well.  So, it isn't exclusively a female issue.  I've seen men go to their knees and pound the floor, on their belly and kick and scream.  One would think they were possessed by evil.

It is my belief, that these individuals are a minority however, we're human and some possess traits of which bring the worst out of their natures.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Dear LaTigresse, MissyRane, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The only lament I have, is that I am unable to visit one and all on Collarme.com in person, to give hugs to and listen, as to see how and or if I can ever be of help.

i have to agree with the theory that when it's an s/ type looking, they come asking for advice on how to fix themselves to present a better package.. and do a little bit of advertising on the side.

The big D's tend to cajole s-types to just BE better packages.   They tend to present Their findings of sub-standard offerings at the buffet rather than something within Themselves. and do a little bit of advertising on the side.
took the words right out of my mouth Mavis and better stated as well...Tempting

<Throws in a good whine for the switches> Oh wait I don't have anything to whine about.. Hrrmm maybe I should rethink this tactic.

Lorelei115 -> RE: da whining of da subs vs. da whining of da dominants (10/16/2006 6:49:45 PM)

Unfortunately, I think the simple fact is that Dominants are outnumbered. So, they tend to have their "pick" of subs and therefore have less to whine about. I guess? I dunno, I try not to be a whiner in general. But then again I'm a switch and we are mythological creatures anyway. [;)]

dunno. i'd be interested to know the ratio of subs:Doms here tho. maybe Doms just tend to be the "strong and silent" type who go out and chop wood or something instead of whining? *shrugs helplessly*

Chop wood or "buff" wood?? LOL

roughleather -> RE: da whining of da subs vs. da whining of da dominants (10/16/2006 7:37:09 PM)

It's a CollarMe thing. I'm not sure why, but this site has far more whining than any other I know of.
